Well I've had a Ribble Audax with 105 for the last 4 years that has been my daily commuter, gone on a fully laden 3 week 1100 mile tour around Europe and been used for a whole bunch of long day rides and so forth. It's fine for all the above and has never let me down in a major way. I will say though, that my gears are never quite perfect, the 105 brakes can be scarily bad in the wet, and I fancy something a little bit fancier, but still essentially a do it all workhorse.
At the moment I haven't even got space for two bikes, so my fixed gear is living back at my parents for now. Summer bike as well definitely couldn't happen.
Oh and commutes never end in the street. Bike goes from my hallway to secure building car park, so not too worried about it getting nicked. I just want reliable shifting in all weathers, even when the gears are a bit grimy and the weather is/has been crap.
Edit: Genesis won't work. I'm 6'6" so my frame options are limited. Bike fit led me to discover that I also need a pretty steep seat tube. Only the ribble and 4S do the right size and geo for me, as far as I can tell...
