In Australialand, where it's not actually that wet, they don't use slippery as fuck steel drain covers, rather they use concrete ones or tar-covered steel ones that basically eliminate that 'wweeeeee' feeling as your back end slides out (defo euph). The Un-knitted Kingdumb of Shituns and Irelanders model their roadways after post-war Iraq.

Yeah was intending to actually - think there's enough clearance. Narrow rims but it's not like I'm taking racing corners on my commute anyway.

Think I had rubino pros years ago, and they went sieve-like quite quick. No wait, maybe I'm getting confused. Could have been Maxxis ones that did that. Oh I don't know, I'm getting old

Durano (normal and the much heavier Plus) are extremely durable tyres.
Rubino Pro are very durable tyres that still roll nicely and don't square off like the Durano options. I use both quite a lot. -

Wouldn't mind a bit more grip on my commute I guess, but as I said I'm not doing daft high speed road bike things on it. Save the nice rubber for the weekends. So to speak.

Noticed that my front tyre was going down more rapidly than the rear - both latex, so deflation expected, just not the rate.
Sure enough there was a pretty big thorn stuck in the front tyre - the sealant meant that I'd not noticed the thorn going in, but it'd not been able to seal it perfectly hence the slow air leak.
I pulled the thorn out, span the wheel a couple of times and left it for ten minute to stop fizzing, then pumped it up and went to bed - worked perfectly this morning (without needing to put any more air in).
So sample size to one side for the moment I am happy with how this experiment is going.

Recommended 700x 32-35 tyres for medium loaded road touring? Will be in Iceland, so could be the occasional gravel section. Randonneur pro's? Marathon Supreme?

500km on the Pave/latex/sealant over the last two weekends, running around 80psi, much comfort, one puncture (that I spotted) which was sealed a) when it happened and then again when b) I pulled the thorn out.
Mishaps include spraying myself in the face with sealant when tapping the valve stem prior to pumping action, but that's the kind of thing you do once.
I purchased the Cafe Latex injector, put ~40ml of TLR in each tyre, I'll remove said sealant when I get home to see what is left, and top up both tyres.
The rear Pave has lost it's nobbles in those 500km, be interesting to see how long they last - not very is my guess.

From what I've heard about Iceland large volume tires are a good thing.

Ghetto version from 50 seconds onwards. Even more ghetto just poke a hole in the inner tube squirt in sealant and repair as for puncture. Eventually sealant goes sticky so don't store tubes with it in there.

Thanks all, Racer Evo 35 are in the lead at the moment. Now got to see what the other half will be able to squeeze in her frame, have a feeling it may be 28 max.

You'll get plenty more out of them. They wear visibly quite quickly and cut up like all Vittorias, but they do last. I've got 5,000km out of a rear before and I'm no lightweight.

What's the tyre of choice for British winter riding (alternative to OP as they are great but probably wear a tiny bit too quick) in 28c?

OP last ages, the tread itself wear a little quicker but after that, it'll last for quite a while.
Mine's about 4,300km and only the very middle is smooth.
Don't forget @skinny probably got the most out of them at 8,000km and counting.
Unfortunately they're no longer making them and getting replaced by the new Vittoria Corsa that also come in 28mm and apparently got an "amazing" puncture resisting ablitiy.

Thanks vm. Finding I'm losing air after about 48 hours so not dreadful but the puncture resistance that comes with sealant will be fantastic!

Down to riding over drain holes I reckon. Perhaps get some graphene bibs for that.
