Going to put on an Absolute Black chainring on my Grade this weekend, I just kept shifting on the front to keep my legs happy. Enjoying the ride so far, been riding through the coastal dunes (bike lanes) every free moment in the past month.

They are lovely things aren't they? SO light! Make sure you have SS chainring bolts.

Waiting on a front rack :/

I wouldn't put a seatpost rack on the seat tube
-
• #104560
Yeah, probably not a terribly smart idea, but I wanted to keep the center of gravity as low as possible. The seatpost is quite long, so there is seatpost in the seattube at the point where the rack is mounted. Maybe this helps a little?
Is this a bad idea because the seattube has a smaller wall thickness than the seatpost and the rack causes a bending moment? The load isn't very large and I've been using this set up for a couple of days now, but I'm gonna get a front rack soon. Thanks for the tip/your concern.

So the S3x finally gave up the ghost after 3 years or so...
I had read about its flaws online so thought I'd give it a look and see if I could replace the part...

After opening it up I could clearly see the flawed design where the selection pin has been chewed away by the engaging teeth.
Ordered a replacement axle and swapped in. Will test ride in the morning.

Fortunately the internal teeth seem to be a harder metal than the pin and so are in pretty good nick.

It's a thing of beauty, almost felt wrong bolting it on the bike.
Just finished installing the ring and polishing the slight marks on the downtube from the derailleur. Now watching Lars van der Haar killing it at Valkenburg, GO LARS!!!

Yeah, I need some black parts! Basically every part, so quite expensive. And since this is now my work bike, I think I will only start replacing parts if they break/wear out (after maintaining them as best as I can of course).
Your bike looks great by the way! I'd have something similar in mind if I were to black out the parts. Love that Salsa stem and the black Suginos. How big's that frame? 62 cm or something? Seems to fit you perfectly.

Nice bike, I think a mix of silver and black parts can look good if you can get the balance right

We should start a yellow bike club. I'm liking yours as well!

Yeah, I tend to agree with you. All black components isn't a must, but it does look very good. Wheels definitely need to be black/dark grey, but that's probably true for most bikes. Silver cranks also look good 90% of the time.

I figured someone was gonna say this. Isn't that specifically for yellow frames with black components? My bike wouldn't be allowed in that club :(

It says "For everything (mainly) black and yellow". Although most of the bikes posted in there are yellow frames with black parts, the founding charter of the thread does not specify that it has to be that way.

Probably from me (well, a paraphrase), but it's the 99% which are made in Taiwan, not the 1% made in Yorkshire or Oregon. If you pull the bearings out and they say TH on them, they're made by TH Industries (owners of FSA) and probably common to millions of other headsets. If you measure the Hope ones and they're a common size with a TH bearing, you could replace them with a TH bearing, but realistically @edscoble is right, you won't pay much less for an FSA or Cane Creek branded cartridge, just because there's a minimum below which bike shops are simply not interested.
