• Offering 1984 Koga Miyata FullPro frame and early 80s Dura Ace Dyna Drive ensemble

    The FullPro
Top of the line frameset of Miyata of Japan, a major company that from the late 70s on pretty much marginalized all than existing industry. By early 70s everybody was still laughing about the Japanese, a decade later they had wiped the competition away with flawless Japanese quality at a sympathic price point. Imo this frame is the best put together offering of the era by an 'off the shelf' manufacturer and it is also better put together than expensive offerings from by far most great names in Italy.

The frame raced by the IJsboercke and Capri Sonne team in the late 70s and early 80s.

Frame is completely built using Miyata's own (yes, they had an own tubing mill) Hardtlite FM-1 tubing. Neat microfusion lugs show nice 'M' cutouts. Bottom bracket shell is open with cut outs in the same 'M' shape. There are Miyata logo engravings present on top the flat crown fork.

Miyata did supply the frame to Koga of the Netherlands. Koga assembled the frame with Dura Ace EX or the frame left Koga as frame only option.

    Features:

    • full Miyata Hardtlite FM-1 tubing
    • microfusion lugs, 'M' cutouts (painted gold)
    • microfusion crown, Miyata logo engravings (painted gold)
    • open bottom bracket shell
    • Shimano drop outs and little frame parts (horizontal EF rear dropout)
    • chromed fork and tail
    • blue/gold, 7 step coat
    • Seattube: 60cm c-t
    • Toptube: 570mm

    Condition:
This is the kind of frame that looks great from a distance, but shows a couple nasty spots up close. In particular on the headlugs rust present. It is reflected in the price of this frame. Structurally the frame is 100% sound. Frame will build great rider.

    • Dura Ace EX bottom bracket in great shape
    • seatpost binder bolt

  • Dammit - It's too big for me!

  • Was team-miyata the UK, US or Asian version of Koga Miyata ?

    Detail:
Koga's for regular people always came with normal head badges.
Team bikes with stickers with Koga Miyata name. Similar style as this team-miyata.
Giant did it the same with with team ONCE.

  • The Team Miyata on the catalogue page posted by dmczone was a bike in the Miyata US line up. In Europe we had 'Koga Miyata'. In a part of Europe (Scandanavia) and the rest of the world the 'Miyata' brand was carried. Miyata was positioned a little different. Koga Miyata was premium and did only high end bikes. Miyata had a wide line up of bicycles, though in every class they offered the neatest and most competent in the market place.

The Team Miyata is in fact a FullPro counterpart. In Europe only Dura Ace EX or AX was specced by Koga, but in the US there also existed a Team Miyata SL with Campagnolo Super Record.

The IJsboerke and Capri Sonne teams raced Koga FullPros. Of course Miyata elsewhere also benefitted from the successes.

  • yum

  • Very tempted. What is the rear dropout spacing and is it drilled for brakes with allen key or nutted fittings?

It looks good with Super Record.

Dropout spacing is 126mm. I do know it takes up to 8s, as I have seen a couple old FullPros equipped with 8s including STI. I even know a veteran who still uses his FullPro with that setup in competition!

  • OK dibs the F+F only. Will PM.

  • Frame sold now

    Chainset still available

  • I guess I lost this race. But if somehow the frame didn't change owner i'll take it ;-). Cheers

  • I am sorry. It is really gone.

Something very different: I happen teo have a Batavus Professional in same size. About the same condition. It is a quite unique SL thoroughbred. Normally Batavus were specced with SP for the larger sizes. 145GBP including shipping (frame)

  • Just curious: what is under the yellow tape/paint/sticker on the top tube?
I guess a riders' name, but which ?

  • Hi DC,

Under the sticker sits spotless red paint. I have removed the sticker. The name was on the sticker. I have been told who's bike it was, but I do not recall. The Nuovo Record hubs mention the engraved initials "JB".

  • is koga frame still for sale,if so whats
    the ticket?---and whats the shipping?
