Yeah, probably not a terribly smart idea, but I wanted to keep the center of gravity as low as possible. The seatpost is quite long, so there is seatpost in the seattube at the point where the rack is mounted. Maybe this helps a little?
Is this a bad idea because the seattube has a smaller wall thickness than the seatpost and the rack causes a bending moment? The load isn't very large and I've been using this set up for a couple of days now, but I'm gonna get a front rack soon. Thanks for the tip/your concern.
