It's a requirement for my job to travel, so back out to Istanbul last week. Had a catch up with Dr., he chided me for doubling warfarin during the trip, saying that was 'extremely dangerous' in event of a bleed. I countered with asking him if he'd ever had 1 confirmed and 1 probable DVT, and suffered the pain and discomfort from them..

He'd like to taper me off the warfarin, with the 'persuader' that if I refused I could be bound to sign a medical release form disengaging him/NHS from any liability if I continue to take the anti-coagulants.

    Decisions...

Do you mean you did this just during flight or during the entire stay?

  • In lieu of a doctor's appointment two weeks before flying(the practice double booked then cancelled mine..) I read 'internetz' advice and took 6mg instead of 3mg for 4 days prior to outbound flight, then during the 4 day stay in preparation for return flight.

I feel fine and didn't bump my head or anything, because I'm an adult in control of my faculties (still), though I accept I could've been in an RTA (kerazay Turkish taksi drivers), in which case I may have preferred to die anyway
