  • Is that packaging or did @jdmitch make some fairings for you?

  • Corrugated cardboard is too rigid - obviously not hazardous enough for me ;-)

  • @hugo7 Lols.

@Dammit where did you find it?!

  • Craigslist in Arizona, here are the sellers photographs: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8131181@N05/albums/72157659296419929

  • Absolute beaut! What's the plans for le build?

  • Depends on whether I can find a complete Dura Ace 74** group in good enough condition really.

This is one of the press-fit BB era Kleins, so a square taper crankset is mandated, so it'll be a period groupset of some kind.

It was built originally with C-Record.

  • I hate you already.

  • Ma'donne

  • Dibs

  • Everyone stop hunting the 74xx, I still need to complete mine!

  • what are the two little bits of metal?

  • Paint that's fallen off where the brake mounts.

  • Frame pump is always handy riding a crit.

Seriously though - that is a beaut.

  • This bike will never see a crit race- I'd feel too guilty if/when the crash happened.

Of course, I'd also need to enter a crit race.

    1991- DA 7402/3?

  • Seller remembered (when I asked him what front mech clamp I needed) that this frame is an odd size that requires a proprietary band:

Which he has put in the post to me.

Speaking of post - the frame has now arrived in the office, I am most excited.

The seatpost is, I believe, a 27.4 - anyone know of anything other than a Thomson that is available in that size?

  • Stock bikes in 1991 would have had this kit:

Dura Ace 27.4, American Classic 27.4 post, or a Campag one.

  • DA for sure.
    This:

Will you be using DT shifters or integrated? Or is it dependant on availablity of parts/groupset?

  • Yikes, that frame is amazing! Looking forward to seeing it built up.

  • Sram red would look awesome on this frame, if it wasn't for the bb issue.

  • It is possible the seatpost is 27.2, I would try one before trying to buy a 27.4. Some of my bikes from that year have 27.2 and some have 27.4.

If not for the BB then I'd build this as I built the Serotta - modern group with (what I think!) was a classic look.

The square taper rules that out though. Finding NOS 740* is tough, however.

  • If you need to sell the Serotta to make space for the new project, do let me know.

  • 57 square, you'd look very pro with a 150mm stem.

  • I reckon i could set it up comfortably without it looking ridiculous.
