  • Yyoooooooooo!!!!!!

  • Niiiice! I'm not sure if you should remove the stickers from the ellipse. The yellow touch is maybe too much.

  • Cheers guys! @Francium87 the Ellipses are only a temporary wheelset for the Brooklyn, the Paul Component/TB14 wheelset is on the way soon.

  • brooklyn looks great!

  • Yessss! So nice to see it finally, can't wait to see it with the new wheelset.

  • Gangsta looks shit. Will take it off your hands for a tenner and a six pack

  • Updatezzzzz!

I know this took fucken missions but the TK is finally rolling! Not finished, but rolling. So I've stuck to the original plan, hope sealed bb + conversion, omnoms, drops, hoods, brks.

As you can see I still need to fit the PDW fenders. I'm waiting for some P-Clips for the seat stays and some genius brackets for the fork, I'll give all the deets when the components arrive but it should be a really great way to fit road fenders to what is essentially a track bike.

  • Now you will blend better with all the pro-muters

  • I might wear some lycra...

  • thats a spot on winter bike

  • Very sensible

  • Nice. Reminds me of my Supernaut. Not drilled at the rear, so I deploy Raceblades if the weather is bad, and whip them off again if not.

  • @Dakin @umop3pisdn cheers guys, so I did the commute on it today and it was brilliant!

It's a really stable ride, handling is solid and I'm extremely happy to be back on drops.

Also I was doing loops of joy in the garage at work because for the first time in recent history I have a bike with clearance between the front wheel and my toe.

And I'm talking clearance; you could easily fit a Favourites Chicken™ double fillet burger in that gap, I genuinely think I might be able to dodge toe overlap with the fenders on

  • Supernaut looks solid, I've always been a massive fan, how does it ride?

  • that rear rim would look so much better if it matched the front IMO

  • I hear that. Already planning on getting one for less weightz.

@Antidotes - it rides great. Feels light and supple. In addition to commuting, I've done loops around Epping (35/40miles) and 60miles plus on it a few times and always want moar. My next big ride will be Cambridge and back on it, but my last ride on it ended in disaster: on the 5th of September I got doored and my finger got snapped in half. Will be off it for another 4-6 weeks. :crai: - the only damage to the bike was the brake lever got twisted inward and sustained a small scuff, which I've since marker-penned. Thank christ. ;-)

  • All awesome besides the finger snapping! >_< Oh dude that is rough, heal up! Glad the bike is fine :)

This is pretty much what I have the Brooklyn for, I've been doing the commutes on it but I really want to use it for long distance fixed.

I've already taken it around the Epping loop and I ride it into deep Kent most Saturday's but things need to be changed though. I'm going to go for drops, I'll also be selling the wheelset and getting something else, a new seatpost at some point and I'll get some basic frame luggage but all in good time.

  • Deep Kent you say?

  • Hahaa I see you bruv.

  • What wheelses will you get? I'd like something lighter for the Supernaut but I'm not sure where to start. I gather it is best to get custom built, I just have no idea of what to buy, from where and who to get to build.

PS: finger pics are in forum rider down, including gratuitous external pin-shot

  • Sorry man I didn't see this untill just now.

Yeah I think custom is the way to go for what I need, relatively light/stiff track wheelset that can take big tyres.

Originally I was going to go for Paul Track Hubs laced to H+Son TB14's via CX Rays, but on second thoughts I've been thinking about the type of riding I do on the Brooklyn when I'm cruising around town and it takes quite the beating.
I take on/off roads I would take my other bikes so I really need to think about a stronger rim.

I'm now going to opt for the H+Son Archetype (grey) and also instead of getting the Paul hubs I'm going to opt for the Surly Track Fix/Fix (silver) because to be honest most of the time this wheelset is going to take an absolute pounding so there's no point on me spending mad ca$$$$$$h on them. Lace it all up with silver CX Rays and bobs your uncle.

Saying that, as for a lighter set for the Supernaut really you can't go wrong with Pauls to TB14's.

  • Did I see you at the Lewisham train station with the Boardman last Saturday?

  • Anyway the Boardman is finished! It was postponed for about a week because the original plan for the fender attachment didn't work at all, so I had to order other bits and well its a bit of a pigs ear.

So now my advise is; if you are going to try and put fenders on a track bike, just buy the complete Velo Orange set with all the trimmings.

What I have at the moment is a kind of PDW/VO hybrid monster of a fender kit but it works.

It's been done for about a week and its seen all of the shitty weather since Monday, it's kept me bone dry and safe.

Christina is also quite a nippy bike, so I'm really quite pleased I fitted that front brake, I've been quite pleased about that maybe 10 times this week so far because I quickly learnt that when you're on the drops in the wet, fixie skids ain't stopping you for shit.

And yes that's right... Christina... Christina Boardman.

  • Ermmm, no not Saturday, but definitely last week sometime on a few weekday nights.
