  • I've had them and I eventually went to a chiropodist then now (semi)regularly use a body shop foot thingy. Feet maintenance gets more important as you get older, especially as a runner.

  • Was the chiropodist painful? Could you walk afterwards? Mine are covering the balls of my feet :(
I know regular foot maintenance is important but I just think my life would be easier if I was fabulously wealthy and could afford to pay someone to do it for me. Any time I try scrubbing my feet I end up with sore arms and no real dent in my feet.

  • Disposable razors do a passable job of getting tough bits off. Use caution, but it's worked for me. I wear chainsaw boots 10-12hrs a day so they're pretty tough, especially on the balls of my feet.
LadyLiz went to a chiropodist once to get it sorted and has just maintained ever since with a pumice.

  • At that time it wasn't the balls of my feet that were the problem, it was corns on both little toes which he pared down with a scalpel. Legacy of tight shoes in my youth. Using a pumice stone doesn't work for me, so the Body Shop foot file once a week does the trick.

A visit to the chiropodist would be useful with self maintenance afterwards, interspersed with pedicures for those 'feeling a bit flush and I deserve a treat' moments.
