Tracey Fidler's son's school have filed a court case against her for not sending her 11 year old son to school, while he was grieving the sudden, horrendous loss of his father. She has been warned that she could face a custodial sentence, as she plead not guilty. A brief outline of her story is below. Tracey's partner of 22 years, Kris was killed in a horrifying crash at the hands of a dangerous driver under the influence of drink and drugs, in February 2014. Since then, Tracey and her five children have struggled deeply with the massive hole this has left in their hearts and lives. Losing Kris has been the most horrendous, devastating pain to try and cope with, for both Tracey and her children. Not only was Kris killed, but he suffered the most severe, horrifying injuries in the process. This only added to their heartache and trauma. Tracey's youngest son Adam, found it especially difficult, as the images he plays through his mind, are far more than any 11, at the time 9, year old boy should ever see! Unable to cope, he missed a lot of school. And Tracey had also been diagnosed with PTSD herself, while trying to get help for her son, and her other children, with no offer of help from Adam's school. Despite the fact that Adam's attendance had picked up in recent months, and he has since moved on to secondary school, his primary school have started court proceedings against Tracey, for his lack of attendance. At times Adam has been signed off by his doctor as medically and physically unfit to attend. However, Battle Primary Academy are saying that Adam's loss of his dad is not a 'good enough' reason. Tracey has been subjected to the first court hearing, where she plead 'not guilty', as she does not believe she is guilty of the things they are accusing her of, and her son had genuine reason to be missing school. He was not truanting, he was grieving. They all still are! Tracey now has just two weeks to build her case against the school, and to defend herself, and her family. If this fails, the reality is that she could get a custodial sentence, for something that is the result of something that was crushingly, so far out of her control. She did not ask for any of this to happen, and Tracey and her children have coped the best they possibly could up until now, but we feel the way she is being treated is unfair and unjust! Tracey is trying to do her best to protect her and Kris' family, as she is now the only person who can. And loving and protecting her children is the only thing Tracey is guilty of! Please sign in an attempt to show the school and courts how ludicrous and heartless this is. We are asking for the case against Tracey to be dropped, so that Adam can have a fresh start in his new school, who have been very supportive, and this particular nightmare can end for them, so they can focus on dealing with the nightmare that they will have to endure for the rest of their lives.
