Both headset and BB are french threaded indeed.

French threaded parts do get the reputation of being 'hard to come by'but Velo Orange produces brand new french threaded headsets and bottom brackets.

Other options include BB rethreading to BSA (about £20 from Fitzrovia Bikes) or using a treadless bottom bracket (about £15 for a YST sealed one).

Both headset and BB fitted to the frame are in good working order - how often do you actually change a headset anyway ;-)

I have a very nice Motobecane 531 frame and forks 59.5 cm ctc top tube . Slight dent in tt and needs good clean little rust and grease. Downside French threads - upside £25 collected from High Barnet.
