first time running a black mamba the other week and after 40 miles of not too skid heavy riding (divided into 4-5 miles at a time) and the fucking thing blew up after i got home and propped the bike up against the wall. Hadn't been skidded through or even anywhere near. fucked if I'm buying another one of them.

next to a radiator?

I once got in on a cold night, propped my bike near a radiator and the hub flange cracked.
(Hope mono, radial laced)

nah in all honesty the rim could have been too narrow for the tyre, but I'm not entirely sure. I went to BLB to buy the tyre in question and asked if I could use their Campy bb tool to change my drivetrain. They were kind enough to do so and also offered to fit the mamba out of courtesy while i fucked about with my crankset on the stand in the yard. In fairness I should've known a 28c might not have been the most suitable option for a 19mm rim, but you'd hope that a bike shop would notice if the tyre they're fitting is too big for the rim (if that was the case)....
TLDR; tyre might be alright but blb fitted to a rim that was potentially too narrow and the fucker blew up. has put me off that tyre for good
make of it what you will... maybe i'm a cunt. do not profess to being an expert whatosever
p.s Orbea locked thru gusset wins every prize

I ran 45c on velocity deep v's and they're 23(correct me there if I'm wrong) and never had a problem, just a bit awkward getting on really, the only time I ever blew out was on a rigida DP18(the classic one) sounded like a damn gun went off.
And Dan, I can't find that jumper just yet, but I'll keep on looking for ye pal.

in an effort to keep out the coming wet weather have cable tied the front mudguards to my commute bike- no eyelets as 1980s racing conversion.
Am I going to die a horrible death with pointy teeth tomorrow morning?
Anyone else used this solution? I have P clips on the rear.......

The drop bar setup with the hoods is choice. Would even look stellar with derailleurs and DT shifters.

That happened to me. But i'd not even ridden it. Built it up, left it above an old CRT monitor for a couple of days. Pop. Bits of hub side wall scattered over the room.
Contacted Hope, they said its because I'd radially laced it.

Surprisingly Black Mamba tyres are decent. I don't use them myself but I know a lot of people who swear by them :)
