P2 also requires different chains and careful gear selection to get a decent range

Do the Alu P2s definitely have track ends?
Yup, are those long enough to get a decent range of gears? There are some properly ugly fixed builds out there...
A Precursa is still cheaper.
Indeed, PC is my default option, but the geo is a poor fit with my current position and so I'll either need to adapt my position to the bike or have some seriously questionable component choices to get it to fit.
Coupla hundred, I'd have thought.
That's what I'd have thought... It's this one for sale on here for £350. Would it be unreasonable if I offer whatever a new PC goes for and see what he says.

I think £350 for a 10 year old alu frame is a bit unreasonable

If you own a half link and don't mind splitting the chain to get the wheel out in some combinations, you can run any gear you like with as little as ⅜" of available axle movement. Not sure if the P2SL allows even that small amount of movement without the track nuts overhanging the back of the ends, hence my comment about semi-magic gears; you may have to change the chainring and sprocket at the same time to change gear, e.g. 52/15 and 53/14 are the same 'length'. Whereas on a proper track frame you'd have no trouble going from 52/15 to 52/14 or vice versa, on a frame with very short ends, even that ⅛" change in length could drop you out of the back of the ends or crash the axle into the front.

You just need a couple of 5mm washers that you stick on the axle. I did ride a disc earlier in the year where I completely removed the axle and put a longer one + cup and cones in. It's not that much of a bodge, I can get basically any gear I want and just have a few chains. Normally 104-112" unless I'm on a fast course in which case up to 117"

When does the handbook come out for 2016? I want to set a new 10 and 25 pb so need to select a good race in June time before nat champs. When I'll be in TT form. Or maybe March time.
-
• #11161
They're usually available a bit before Champs night - maybe Jan/Feb?
WTF are you fannying about with 10s and 25s in June for? Don't you have a TCR to win?
-
• #11162
Yeah end of July, I've got exams in June so no time for big miles. Big hours = July.
National TT champs = 23rd June. Raise my FTP in June to a nice number, then put 4o points on my CTL in July. And thanks.

End of July eh? So I could do a TransAm and TCR double.. hmm... mwuahahahahahaaaaa

Including Jim Henderson making something of a comeback in third (on fixed).
On his P3SL
ish, they're short so might need semi-magic gearing
