You can fit vittoria XN (and probably clement LAS, etc) type cross tyres. You'd need to ask for the road fork though.
It'd help because those tyres are ideal for riding across a field :]

And not be able to run anything bigger than 25c. How would that help?
The rear have more clearance due to the fact it's a track end, so 35mm is actually within the realm of possibility, I know for a fact 32mm fit quite nicely with the original road fork that come with it.

You should get a precursa, they're popular for grasstrack.
