Ergo a modern/compact drop will look out of place?
-
• #104428
I don't think so .. tons of tarck/track bikes on tumblr/prolly with compact road drops

Anyone have a Genesis Volare 20 - they'd care to offer a review for.. thinking of getting one.

It's awesome, normal race geometry with a little more headtube than usual.
It's also quite stiff, I just managed to get it as comfortable as possible running bigger tyres which work well.

a road shape that wont look to out of place on a genuine track frame.

Ok great - is it a weighty thing?

Compared to a Canyon, it's pretty porky, but doesn't felt like it.

- track hubset 32h

only just gotten back to virtual reality..
looks nice and ratty, good one!
and yes, very tight, i developed a technique of flipping out of my pedals to be able to do slow tight curves... enjoy her! -

Changed it up a bit since the pic, looking a bit better now.
I was used to the overlap straight already from previous bikes, so i'm pretty comfortable with it, usually just take my feet out on when riding slow to.I've got a low flange single sided Miche hub in my parts bin somewhere, i'd sell it pretty cheap

It's more classy as is, but the black silver balance is better with the zen.
-
• #104441
Prefer it as is, but with a silver post

My German transporter is getting there. Still some bits missing, but it's rideable. Proper pics later in the week.

Needed a sensible commuter, as winters coming, tired and my knees are aching :/
Definitely need some sort of longer flap for the front mudguard, probably try cut up a plastic bottle, drill a few holes and ziptie it on

aching
Ha!
Looks practical. What fenders are those? Am still on the lookout for some bigger fenders than my current Raceblades. Is this set up as fixed?

always tired, always aching...
SKS Bluemels 45mm wide, plenty of clearance with 32's
It's fixed now but i have just ordered a 19t freewheel.

Old, battered leather saddles make good mudflaps.

I currently also ride a 19t (x48), ridiculously easy. About those fenders: apart from not having a (longer) flap, do you like them? Also, did you buy the things to mount them to the fork/stays separately or do they come with the fenders? Thanks for answering my questions!

probably try cut up a plastic bottle, drill a few holes and ziptie it on.
Do it, add an inner tube to the bottom of the plastic bottle too.

Mudguards are good, can't really go wrong with SKS, they got a reflective version on wiggle that comes with the rubber flaps bye the way.
I've actually just ziptied them on there, the mudguards come with bolts to attach them to a frame that already has eyelets, steamroller has none so you ideally need to get some P-clips
yeah a trad drop with long reach and deep drop .. but would it work? You'll have to compensate reach in stem length and drop in spacers if you are using compact drops already and the geo is similar.
