ACS Freewheels in the UK - no longer available?

Posted on
  • So I've been looking for a well prices ACS Crossfire, and ended up emailing Charlie (charliethebikemonger.com) who informs me they are no longer imported into the UK. Looks like my next best option for quality & sound is a Halo Clickster, which is twice the price (not willing to spend out for the WI).

Anyone know of a source for the ACS?

Edit: another option is to get a 16t ACS as he has some still available, but I'm not sure I want to run 46/16 for commuting/town.

  • I've got 2 Halo Clicksters. Really nice freewheels. Way better than Shimano ones.

  • I get mine from ebay in usa and shipped to wherever my bike component mule, sorry chum is staying. I think some of those vendors would ship to the UK.

There is also a crossfire pro version, apparently, with maw paws, but I've never bought one of those, since I'm not a professional.

IMO they are the nicest cheap (unsealed) freewheels.

  • Yeah the Triton link may be the best option. Still around half the price of the Halo, which I see as the next cheapest viable solution.

  • Not like Hope Freehub loud or quite as loud as a WI freewheel but a decent noise none the less. Lets ppl know you're coming. I like it.

  • What about the BLB (DNP) freewheels I have found those to be pretty good.

  • tartybikes have a load of decent trials freewheels, even tell you how loud each one is and are decent guys to deal with.

  • BLB ones have a history of not lasting long at polo.

  • I thought ACS went bust ages ago!

  • The tartybikes site looks great - I love the dB meter. All a bit above budget though for a commuter.

I went with the ACS from Triton and will look at other options (tartybikes or Halo Clickster when it goes pop)

    Thanks guys!

  • i have an ACS crossfire 16 tooth brand new, unused that someone could have for £12 if they want it?

  • I'd have snatched that off you if it were 17t. Shame.
