I read a few more threads on yacf and other people asking similar questions. I've put a list of controls to and from my 'town' and using ViaMichelin it comes to 208km using cycling and Google Maps set to walking comes to 205km. That means I'm safe in terms of distance validation as I understand it. The actual route I ride will be that or probably longer.
Can't believe it's actually starting to make sense.
