Pretty cheap to fly and actually I didn't find it that expensive there. Eating and drinking out is, I guess, but I don't drink and am vegetarian so was very limited in what I could have. I think prices within tourism are tied to the euro so if eating whales and puffins and sharks and stuff like that is up your street then now is probably a good time to go.
It's a beautiful and intriguing country but the weather is quite fierce. There's 12 hours of daylight at the moment and a day can contain every weather you can imagine, one after another. Not many runners (as in, I saw none and I got some very odd looks) outside of Reykjavik and I wouldn't recommend running on the roads as icelandic drivers are cray cray and tourist drivers are a menace.
It is bloody lovely though.
Iceland sounds like an ideal Spine training place- can you get there cheaply?
