Whats the difference?
Thickness.
And therefore reliability. If getting a flat will ruin your day get the touring tyre. If it's just part of the ride you might appreciate a thinner/faster tyre.

Flats wouldn't ruin my day...would probably make me late for work though.
Also possibles are these - in 37mm http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYCOSC/continental-sport-contact-wired-tyre - cheap as, likely a lot slipper in any kind of mud.

Can I get away with a 20-23mm latex inner tube (mad bargains on Wiggle atm) on a wide rim (archetype) with a 25mm tyre? Or will I dies?
-
• #2105
Not recommended at all.
Latex leak like a sieve already, think about what happen if you stretch it further.

I've done it, didn't die. If what Ed says is true then pumping them up every 2 days is not much more effort if you were going to pump them up every 3 days anyway.

It's fine
-
• #2108
Yep. I have standard latex tubes in 33mm cross tyres. They're fine.
-
• #2109
Nice. Will be putting them under Open Paves for maximum ride feelz
-
• #2110
absolutely fine, I have run 20-23mm latex tubes with 32mm cross clinchers absolutely fine.

Latex tubes lose noticeably less air when you have sealant in them, I discovered this week.

• #2112
Might give this a try with some open pave

Hmmm.
Are the 400g wired version a good option for a douchbag rainbeik?
I'd like the speed and light weight of the Hutchinson but a puntcure belt because thorns. I'd also like the moon on a kevlar stick plz.

Do you remember a while ago that it doesn't really matter if it's wired or not?
It's still a decent tyres with supple sidewall enough to make it more comfortable than the Hutchinson you were running, downside the tread is a little thicker but gripper, so it kinda balance out a bit.
Lastly, it's the cheapest 650b tyres in a size that'll fit any conversion you can get (35mm).
IMO, tyres like those Compass 32mm will make a massive difference in ride quality and as long you don't go too high a pressure, fairly resistant to getting punctured (in the sense that the tyres deform over sharp object unlike stiffer tyres).

I agree, I'm racing cross on wired tyres! There is no difference other than 'system weight'.
I'm going to give the Kojaks a go. I've had glass and thorns in the Hutchinsons recently (never fun in the wet/dark) and have some big all-dayers planned. I need reliable.

They come in black too.
Abet 38mm if there's room.
-
• #2120
There isn't. I went for Kojaks.
-
• #2121
kojaks for winter, compass for summer

What bike do you have the Confrerie des 650b on? Pics? I love those tires on my road bike. A tad less comfortable than the Pari Motos I had on previously, but much grippier.

My brain leaks like a sieve - what're the forum-approved commuting tyres these days? 25 or 28mm... I'd trawl through many pages but I'm writing this in a mini-break when the producer's out the room...
Ta. The Halos might be a good bet, thanks.
