Edit: Oops, failed to see your comment @HoKe.

A picture of possibly the best Look ever built to make up for my mistake:

    (Yes, repost.)

  • No mate, on sale atm:

Ha!, now I understand what @6pt meant.

The blue Look is tasty too but I prefer the weight of my Neuron tubed 243. ;)

    +1

  • There's a very nice Look KG 96 for sale in France for only 400 €: http://www.leboncoin.fr/velos/854089145.htm?ca=17_s

  • I'd gladly buy the group of that bike if someone else is in it for the frameset and kit.

  • Hi all, I've just joined the Look club. Look 585. I've never owned a carbon bike before so I'm quite looking forward to it. I need a headset and forks for it and I think it's an integrated HS. Any recommendations? I don't have much money so nothing too pricey.

  • Nice frames the 585 last of the lugged carbon
The look hsc 5 fork is what you need & yes an intergrated headset
Good luck with your build !
    This is mine

  • Actually I believe that honour goes to the 595

  • I'm in a bit of a trilemma: keeping the Look 'classic' (quill stem with look chromed forks) or change to 'modern" and use the carbon forks i.c.w. treadless stem. To make it complete: some say carbon forks i.c.w. silver stem...

    What you think?

  • I would keep the steel forks ... Bet they are super comfy & still quite light
The time forks also look ok , but as you have the originals...

  • Yes you are right , the 595 is lugged , tubes are a more square profile
My friend has a white 595 with intergrated post , lovely bikes to ride & so well made

  • but as you have the originals...

that's true. That's why I was in doubt. I have a bit of the same problem with a Gios: carbon forks look great but original chromed fork is just... so beautifully original.

  • I'm guessing those forks are very hard to get hold of? Any other suggestions?

Your's looks lovely. mine won't look quite as nice unfortunetly as it'll be a bit of a mishmash of shimano.

  • I'm guessing those forks are very hard to get hold of? Any other suggestions?

Any 1⅛" fork will work. If you want nice and cheap, these are good value, only 250mm steerer so may not fit if your frame is huge.

585 headsets are just regular FSA integrated, nothing special, but if you're getting a frame without fork make sure the previous owner hasn't accidentally lost the metal inserts which go between the bearings and frame.

  • Hi nev , it will still be a great ride .... Good shout mdcc...tester those forks look a bargain Good luck with your build & happy riding

  • Awesome, thanks Tester!

  • The original fork is the HSC5 for the 585 I believe. I see them pop up every now and again. managed to bag a replacement HSC6 for my 595 not that long ago for chips so worth a shot to see if you can find one.

  • Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for some.

  • The original fork is the HSC5

    Mine has an HSC5SL¹

¹Actually HSC5SL Ultra, because my frame is an Ultra²

    ²Because I'm a fat bastard

  • I'm quite heavy, will the the 585 be ok for me?

  • I'm quite heavy

How heavy? I'm 100kg, I like my Ultra but the softer Origin has been ridden by Hushovd (~85kg) at Paris-Roubaix and he must put out about 4 times as much power as me, so even the soft option is stiff enough, and all of them are strong.

  • I'm the same as you. Thanks for the info.
I can't wait to build it up!

  • So, just recently bought this off here. I know there's a couple of things wrong with this build, i.e. saddle angle, nitto post, pedals, etc. Built this for my gf but she prefers her current one. So at the moment, it's mine until my MX leader arrives! Woohoo! When that happens, this frame will be posted on the for sale section. for a very very good price. Got it for £150, will be selling it for way lower than that.

  • @Shroom what size is it? potential dibs!
