That's an awesome effort! A 24hr hour ride just for the fuck of it. Great attitude.

OK, it's not weekend, but I'm on holiday so everyday is weekend-like. Arrived in the Chianti region yesterday after a couple of days in Lucca and did a short ride today to get re-acquainted with the strade bianche for Sunday's L'Eroica. I made sure to hurt the legs a bit, hoping that will give them a boost for the big day

Yeah, the moon was kinda behind me for most of it as I was heading northbound but I had ample opportunity to glance back at it. Although, there was heavy fog all night and for most of the morning. The eclipse occurred about 3am and I don't remember seeing the moon again after that... which was kind of a fail as I picked that day for the extra light from the moon haha!
Had some pretty low points thinking I wasn't going to hit my target and getting cold and thinking the sun was never going to rise again and the brutality of how long it feels like between towns/cities but I persevered and that's what it's all about for me!
Currently editing down the 1 hour and 47 minutes of GoPro footage. I think the fog might have killed it though...!!

Bloody foggy in Kent this morning. A surprising amount of cars and cyclists seemed to think that not using any lights even when visibility was about 200m was acceptable.
Also, the ladies in Ide Hill farm shop / cafe aren't very friendly any more are they?!

imagine that many cyclists will have left home with weather reports of sunshine. No reason to take lights. Cars, well if it was me I'd want to be seem in those lanes!

Firstly @veganjoseph just seen your ride above, chapeau!
Went out for a short ride around the streets on the single speed in the stillness last night after a beer, got carried away & ended up visiting almost all the boroughs of Greater Manchester (just missed Wigan by a few streets). Forgotten how nice it is to ride the city surrounds when everyone is indoors, quiet roads throughout.

Did the WNKR Kent 1 (no you're a Kent) but starting from St Mary Cray, via Shoreham. Such a beautiful route, but not sure I cld ever do Sundridge fixed. I'm now at Otford station desperately craving beer - the WNKR pavlovian response to riding your bike up a hill, I suspect.

Awesome bit of the world. I did a ride nearby with laner and pastry bot on monday.
Sundridge is tough fixed - i probably would've climbed off but for branwen and YAL just ahead showing me it was possible! Needed to tack across the road zigzag near the top IIRC.

Third ride since breaking my hip & pelvis at the end of June. Riding gears gently and spinning rather than pushing. Even got out of the saddle on a few of the climbs (no pain). My hip is sore now but great to be out on such a lovely morning.
I rode out to marshall at Thaxted - last club TT of the year on the Debden/Thaxted hilly circuit.
Lots of cyclists out - there was some sort of sportive thingy going on but luckily I was riding against them.

Ride of the falling leaves. Glorious sunshine although a bit nippy in the morning. Took lights with me after yesterday's fog reports but didn't need them. Flatted going down a big hill, must have hit some stones hidden by the dappled light through the trees. Always a great way to 'end the season.'

Sundridge has to my knowledge never been on the Kent 1 route. As I heard last Wednesday you are not employed by the ministry of transport, could this be confirmed?

Did the Lands End 100 miler today. Nice route, although of course lots of climbing because Cornwall. But the hills weren't the worst of it today - 60 miles of it was a gruelling battle with an exceptionally strong headwind that slowed you to a crawl and sapped your body heat. Instead of an expected 6:30, it took me 7:55
Edit to add that the wind speeds were 20-25 knots...

Ah, my bad. It was Kent 2, but apparently we managed to miss out Star Hill. Ooops. Still a lovely ride, though. And no, not at the Ministry for Transport.

Another lovely Ride of the falling leaves, yesterday as andrewd531 bit nippy in places but perfect other wise. Makes such a difference when all the riders are looking out for each other.

Did the Dulwich Paragon Ride of the Falling Leaves "sportive". Nice route and some lovely quiet lanes. Some utterly cuntish riding by certain members of Brixton cycles, but oh well. Mostly rode with clubmates (ICC) until I toiled on Toys hill. Enjoyed the last of the summer sun.

PM me a description of the BC riders, where it was and what happened and I'll look into it.
Not nice to hear and I hope it didn't spoil the ride too much.
cheers

I rode a forty mile sportive yesterday. Longest ride for a couple of years at least. It was in Worcester and I rode it with two old friends who are new to cycling.
We came nineteenth out of 253 starters.
Pretty chuffed.

Rode from London to Brighton with a friend on sunday. Such a lovely ride!
^^^^Totally awesome - Seeing the moon change color must have been unreal
