Canister can fit in upside down.

My own question answered:
You can use normal chainring bolts with new SRAM "hidden bolt" chainsets and avoid using their proprietary, expensive bolt. You just have to removal the spider from the cranks to access the bolt and all is normal.

AFAIK, the main argument is that the stainless steel cages don't mark your bottles the way aluminium ones do. If you want a modestly priced cage which is known to be decent, try these: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/elite-custom-race-bottle-cage-2015/

I think my £3 BBB cage is decent enough TBH. It's black and my bottle doesn't fall on the floor.

Dynamo hub peoples!!!
I have a bit of a dilemma. I wasn't able to solve a problem shortly before I left for my bikepack trip - namely charging things. I understand you can get converters that'll provide a 5V ???Amp output from a dynamo hub, but I have Ayup lights which need something like a 7.4V output to charge.
Has anyone seen some sort of off the shelf or even DIY solution to charging Ayup batteries? Just want to know before I start prototyping some electronic wizardry.
Ultimately the ideal setup will have a 5V port and 7.4V port...although I may be able to get away with one port and some sort of resistance circuit to bring 7.4V down to 5V...

Search isn't helping me much. My dad's LBS wants to put a rack to carry panniers on his carbon bike with p-clips. I feel this is a bad idea. Who's right?

My dad's LBS wants to put a rack to carry panniers on his carbon bike with p-clips.
I'm surprised that a bike shop would consider doing that, since they will be held responsible when it explodes and kills him. The safer option would be to use the brake centre bolt and axle as the mounting points, since you know you can feed loads into the frame at those points. Anywhere else and you're just guessing at whether the carbon lay up will tolerate the loads.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Thanks. I dont know if his LBS has something suitable but I think I've talked him into just using a saddle bag (although I wish he'd use an allow seat post with the saddle bag, it's a clamp one)

Neither look as good as this:

I have the King cages, they work very well- probably just as well as many others tbf. They come with a bit of a story to them though, and that gives them the edge over the alloy and plastic ones.

Just broke my belt on the train from Luxembourg to Brussels opening a bottle of beer. Also, the button on these trousers fell off recently. I've got three hours to solve this.

Drink enough beer that you don't care about not having any trousers on.
Cheers.
Looks nice. The red button seems kind of convincing.
Do you transport it with the canister in place? Is there a mechanism to prevent, er, accidental discharge in your pocket?
