Anyone had any experiences with the Genesis CdA 20? Looking for something for winter training and maybe the very occasional race.

Chain is OK as pictured.
As it should, you'd know easily when it's not right.

Best cyclocross bike just over a grand

It was spot on for me, but I'm a bit taller than you. Can you try one in your size anywhere?
-
• #3507
Not locally. They have a medium, so may take that for a spin, if too big take a punt on the small. Cheers though.

Wow! Bargain, what's the catch?

Dunno. Clinchers? Cantis? It's old 10spd Di2, but still...
-
• #3511
quite heavy alloy frame, average wheels, older groupset.. not discs
-
• #3512
Ah, saw Di2, and for some reason presumed it had discs, didn't even look at the brakes. Thought it was combining modern technologies for not much money, as if!

the whole bike (58cm) with pedals = 9,5 kg. not bad.
ultegra Di2 6770 is still better than 105 5800.
i paid 850 pounds, but not in the uk (; -

850 is a pretty solid deal though!

Still a bloody good deal.

Anyone had experience with Norco?

Finally got to ride the Felt F85X in a CX event last weekend (Aberystwyth: Round 2 of the Welsh CX Series). The bike rode very well, the rider much less so!
Being new to the game, having not ridden a CX event since 1979/80, I was very disappointed to finish with spotless kit, sunburn and a bike that looked like it just rolled out of the showroom. Great fun though :)

Overall your stack will be increased and reach shortened but it will be cool.
^ badly written but it's not easy to explain quickly.
The Kona will be the opposite of this approach 0bvs

The different ht and st angles can make a surprising difference too.
True that.

i would like to ask the cx hive mind about a bike which suits my needs... not all of which are cx. in fact, few of which are cx.
i would like:
- pref steel frame but flexible to other things
- carbon fork
- rack mounts (both if poss, just one is fine)
- mudguard mounts
- disc brakes
- pref under £1000
i'm looking for a bike i can do some mild offroading, some cx, put bags or panniers on and go touring on, or put some skinnier tyres on and ride it on the road/commute on it. because it'd do multiple jobs i'm happy to fork out for a thing that'll last (and i want it to last) but don't actually, um, have any money so looking for as cheap as possible.
laner suggested the arkose which is rad but i hate the colour and would rather have steel.... and because i'm a terrible hipster i was looking at the allcity macho king (which doesn't even have the mounts i need but does have a Sweet Fade). genesis bikes look really expensive. i don't know a lot about these types of bikes so open to ideas.

Thats at least 4 bikes you are talking about there ;)
Dibs laner's BMW.In all seriousness, combining bikes has NEVER worked out well for me.

well, i think it's possible. there are bikes that do what i want, i just don't love the look of the ones i've found so i wanted to see if there were others.
also we can't fit many more bikes in the flat*, it's beginning to look like we're running some kind of bizarre bicycle mitosis experiment.
*definitely not true but i want to consolidate my existing bikes
Ah, yes the 58cm 'Dale crossers are massive, I normally ride a 58 Cannondale road frame and throwing a leg over a CAADX was comical, I thought I'd shrunk.
