• The hefe is actually nice, although I prefer the one they stock as standard. Stay away from the Oktoberfest lager though, bland bland bland.

That said, if you homebrew, the swing top bottles are good quality...

  • GT85 spray is now down to 99p a can at my local Aldi!

  • Not too impressed with the winter gloves, the linings in mine slide around alot inside the gloves when I brake/change gear which actually feels really sketchy and gives me less control.

  • Thanks for the heads up!

@Booga I don't think that they bothered with quality control this year! I couldn't even get my hands into the first few pairs that I tried because the lining was so badly done. Also, they don't have as many reflective bits as last years model...For five pounds though I am happy enough. I also managed to snag a base layer (although it is a womens medium and I'm not sure how the fit will be).

  • I've exactly the same issue with these gloves, I don't feel very confident wearing them. I'm hoping they'll improve a little after they've been worn in.

  • There's still merino long johns and ladies tops at Newbury Park...

  • No worries dude, as one opened near me, I consider it my lfgss duty to drink all the beer so I can pass on my findings to those that may be less fortunate (thirsty)

My favourite beer there is the German lager that comes in the green six packs. It's spot on.

  • Not specifically Aldi, and certainly not Aldi prices, but Winstanleys are having a sale of their Gore-Tex stock, which is relatively cheaper than usual. Might be interesting to some people.

  • Pretty sure that if you UTFS on here, Winstanley's have a poor rep: they came up within the last couple of weeks...

  • I had no idea they have a bad name. Never ordered from them and they've been around a while, although so has Velodromeshop... Point taken.

  • I've used winstanley in the past.
Bought a right shouldered Chrome messenger bag.
They sent me a Lefty, I returned it, they said theyd credit me the postage costs for the return. They didn't.
    Never shopped there again

  • they're not as bad as velodrome shop. they just have a bit of a habit of not taking things off the site when they've sold out. i used to buy loads of BMX stuff from them as they were always the cheapest

Back in store and, as mentioned above, also available online.

  • The MTB shorts are pretty good. Bought myself a second pair.

  • Also £80 Garmin edge 25s

  • I've had excellent experience of winstanleys. Ordered stuff showing out of stock, they kept me updated with delivery details, can't fault them.

  • The selection this time is meh. And what's up with the sizing? The med shorts start at 33" waist and no small option?
Bought a tenners worth of socks though, they work well and I wear them daily regardless of if I'm on the bike or not.

  • Fished the only pair of medium casual shorts out of the pile of XL's. Quality seems pretty good, they feel like they'll last a lot longer than the lycra jerseys and bib shorts which are very thin and look naff. Medium are still on the large side for me though, don't understand why they'd make 33" the smallest waist size.

  • I had some of these from the last time (look like the same design) and they've lasted pretty well. The padded inner is crap, though.

Didn't bother picking up anything this morning. Can't justify the Garmin right now, and everything else was too brightly coloured for me. Why don't they do any plain black jerseys or bib shorts?!

  • Picked up 4 pairs of socks, a pair of the padded shorts, one of the smaller saddlebags and a CO2 inflator. The saddlebag came with a toolkit with a neat little 15mm spanner. Pleased with everything but the blue accents on the shorts look a tad lairy.

  • There's a Team GB range in Aldi now with Small size shorts (30-32" waist) at last, chamois appears to be the same as the last Aldi shorts that they did. Also jerseys, gloves, socks etc all in Team GB red/white/blue if that's your sort of thing but they also have track pumps, tool kits and various bottles of lube, cleaner and GT85.

  • I'm going to try and have a look at the quality of the stuff (jerseys) tomorrow, for £15 I'm not expecting much...

  • I'd advise against the track pumps. You can get much better pumps for a few quid more elsewhere.

Garmin edge 25s are 50 quid, which is pretty good.

  • Worth waiting a few weeks for stuff to get reduced, then pick up muc off and gt85 cheap cheap cheap.
