  • Resole form £30: CHIDA 07956 141 935, his posters are down at the arch. well worth it.

  • All this outdoors malarkey is triggering my agoraphobia.

Where are the brightly-coloured holds and crash-mats? :/

  • I never want to climb indoors again. Much prefer choking on forest fire smoke to clouds of chalk dust....
Me and Liz are already talking about a month-long climbing trip for next year...

  • Current to do list is:
    Vedauwoo
    Moab
    Toulumne
    More Yosemite

A month on the west coast of the U.S just to climb would be rad but probably pretty pricey...
Have seen a lot of these http://www.escapecampervans.com around here. Might get one next time as we've spent a ton on accom this time.

  • Recent tweet from the Arch:

"With more than 250 problems to test at #archnorth now and excitement levels set to 11 Matt Cousins makes short work of this awesome red problem… Opening date to be announced very soon."

We're packing up the tools now, so it's a matter of days. They dont give an opening date because they don't want a rush of people. I'll keep updating.

  • Much obliged. Really looking forward to some problem solving.

  • Attention DMM users!!!!
Nuff carabiners are on recall for a machining fault on the gates. Check your serial numbers! I've got 2 here with me in the U.S. that are affected and probably a few more once I root through all my work and other climbing kit when I get home.

  • Thanks for the update. Same grade colours as the other two centres then? :)

  • Basically the same, yes. Because I've been working, and not climbing, for the last 6 months I have lost conditioning, mainly in my forearms and grip, so it's hard to tell exactly how hard stuff is. As the build winds down I've been on the walls whenever I can. Some of the blues seem harder than before, and some of the orange / blues seem easier. What's cool / different from the other two centres is the number of problems that traverse around corners. There are 6 arretes and two islands, all with different curves / angles.

  • Climbed there for 4 hours yesterday with @Kazakh. New walls and holds are pretty rough, fingers red raw after a long time out. need to build up skin again.

Pretty sure we are opening next week :)

  • Oh, and just in case anyone's looking for work, they have posted this on social media:

    Staff Positions at archclimbing
We are interviewing for part-time staff positions at Arch North (Burnt Oak) and the Biscuit. Positions include counter staff and climbing Instructors - must be able to work weekends. If you are an experienced climber that climbs at a grade of V3 and above please drop us a mail at: emilia@archclimbingwall.com

  • Noice. I might give it a bit to let the rush die down.

  • @mmatt @Drakien @Chak I'm thinking of getting a small group together to ride up to the new wall one weekend. There's a nice route past Hampstead Heath. It's a long way and out of the way so it would be good to make the ride part of the fun. We could start at the Bermondsey wall, or maybe at the castle, or anywhere that's popular. Anyone interested?

  • Great idea! I'm in. Best for me would be on a Sunday, I'm happy to start at either Bermondsey or The Castle.

  • Sounds great.

The Castle is my regular but I like the old Arch (Arch Southeast?).

  • I'm heading to the Castle tonight if anyone's about?

  • Brutal climbs are what it's all about though.

  • My membership is frozen for a couple more days but I'll be there a lot from next week onwards.

  • Ok, sweet. Let me know when you head over. I'm working 4 day weeks so I try to go for one weekday-daytime climb and an evening/weekend climb. THe last month or so it's only been once a week though.

I'm also subbed to the thread now and am definitely up for rides/climbs.

  • Sweet. Would be good to climb with some forumgers.

  • For sure.

  • @Kazakh has just suggested starting from Look Mum No Hands. I guess as we get more people involved we can start to see where's a convenient starting point for the most people.
@Drakien how does Sunday 1st November sound?

Up for a ride to the new Arch North, @well_is_it?

  • Uhh, that's the day after my Hallowe'en rave which finishes at 6am. Maybe another day (sorry).
