  • On the owner obviously.

There are several dog walkers around here using those handlebar- less sedgeway thingies. Buzzing along staring at their phone.

You could literally just hold the bat out at head height and wait.

  • Just entered 'Race To The Kings' seeing as I hallucinated knights in shining armour during 'Race to the stones' it seemed strangely appropriate. Think I've got unfinished business with ultra marathons.

Snowdon Marathon in 4 weeks, had a great 18 mile trail run today so I'm hoping I'm coming into a bit of fitness just at the right time. Snowdon from last year is my marathon p.b, don't think I'll get near that but it would be nice to get close.

  • Lovely autumn afternoon run round Beckenham park, if you run up and down the hill repeatedly it is almost like being in the countryside.

In other news @PhilPub ran a mighty impressive 2:30:30 in Berlin this morning.

presumably for the first half... surely no one runs a full marathon that fast!?!

    Fantastic, well done!

  • Cheers! Was gunning for sub-2:30, and on pace at halfway in 1:14:37, but what with the marathon being a bloody long way and everything, just struggled to keep it together when things got tough. Still, over a minute off the PB and I couldn't have run any faster. Serious gurn time running under the Brandenburg Gate with 200 metres to go. I love Berlin!

  • Chapeau!

  • Well-fuckin-done!

  • Fantastic effort. Take up rollerblading and do the double next year, k?

  • Amazing time well done, can't even imagine running that fast 😓

  • @hats gore - tex thongs are what you need for Iceland.

  • @Pifko winter 5k starts again 6 November. Get yo ass there

  • Have started running recently, around 2 months ago and maybe 3 runs per week for the last month. done the half marathon Strava challenge in 1:55 which I thought was pretty good considering my complete lack of training. was a little sore afterwards.

  • Sorry for the spam, just nudging this thread before it goes towards ebay

Selling some very good condition winter running tights and gloves

  • apparently VLM magazines have started hitting doormats...

    fantastic time!

I was out there cheering as I couldn't run, but only arrived just in time to catch the 3h10 runners come through km37 where my pals from run pack had their cheerzone (confetti, many many signs & sound system all setup on a wide corner).

the medical people at the exop got me a guaranteed deferral to next year but only get 30euro off the re-registration fee. not sure if I'll do it though as have a place in chicago the month after.

  • also just signed on to run the spitfire scramble 24-hour relay again next august, only this time part of a 2 man team instead of 6-8. need a kick up the arse to get my running mojo back.

  • @HatBeard thought id come on here to see that you'd got in the ballot for the third year in a row..... ;)

    Sorry you are still injured!

maybe this year is my year...

I'm slightly worried as it is only 2 weeks before IM Mallorca 70.3 which I've already paid for and I cant see doing both being conducive to a fast time at either, but a sub 3 attempt is on the plan for the year...

  • I've got a broken thumb now, chest is all cleared up.

ballot result should be at home later. wasn't bothered about running it next year until today, now I would really like to do it again I think.

  • if i don't get in I think I'll do the Ox or Ox Ultra in May instead.

  • Thanks all. @HatBeard my club mate ran a PB on a deferred entry this year. Good luck if you take it up... Chicago's on my bucket list as I'd love to do the Majors. (Only two down so far though.)
@Doctor_Cake - We watched the skaters come past 16k as we were strolling around on the Saturday. Jeez, those guys were shifting.

Currently mulling over whether to race London next year and see if I can chip off those 31 seconds. I'm not putting myself through all that again just to miss out on a PB though.

  • apparently VLM magazines have started hitting doormats...

    Nothing on mine today. Boo.

  • Informed that there's a "Package from London Marathon" at home today, so guess that's a "No" magazine and a training top.

Might look for a charidee place or just look for a different marathon (or just run one on my own round Richmond Park).

  • 3 lap challenge - although Brighton is re-opening for entries next week...

    nothing here yet either...yet....

really looking forward to the Kingston Breakfast Run next weekend, another little step up in responsibility as I will be pacing the sub 3 marathoners for the first 18 miles, so 1.8 miles more than the spring and 8 seconds per mile faster, am doing 17 miles at 4:30 today and will do 13 miles at target pace on Sunday to get it dialled in...

All being well it should give me confidence that with specific run training I should be more than capable of my Sub3 target next spring..

  • 3 lap challenge - although Brighton is re-opening for entries next week...

Ha. 4 laps required for the marathon distance, although not quite 4 if you run round the path rather than the road.

Thanks, Brighton re-opening is useful as have family down there so no need to worry about accommodation, will try that. Otherwise I'll look to promise to raise £2k for Parkinson's UK.

    I wasn't joking!

running for charity is a good option, they really appreciate it and really look after you post race, if I'm honest I think I prefer the Brighton Course, as its generally wider, straighter and nearly as well supported... the cheering recorded messages triggered by your chip were awesome as well!

Guide dogs do puppy cuddles, sandwiches and massages!
