Pretty sure you need two independent estimates. I'd go to a big chain for the other quote.
But yeah, don't give up.

Slater & Gordon did a good job.The police investigation was slow but ended up somewhere. He gets a choice of a BeLessOfAShitDriver (Driver Alertness) course or a day in court. Not sure what he'd be charged with (driving without due care and attention I expect) but the CCTV footage I have will put him away if he chooses that! I would have been very pissed off if nothing had happened - I handed it to the Met on a platter...

It's going to be a long one. I'm not waiting for him to pay for my repairs, so will just pay myself. If I'm going to claim off his insurance how many estimates for the repairs should I get? TLCW has done one (and still have the bike), should I just get their estimate and take it to somewhere else and get them to put their numbers in?
