Looks like my build is coming in under £250 which I'm pretty psyched about. Should be done by the end of the week.
I went for the Alfine cranks in the end - great service from Rose Bikes would highly recommend.

On that link do you know why they say it can't be used on MTBs?

incl. BSA bottom bracket cups for 68 mm casing width
Most MTB's has 73mm shell width

Rly? None of the ones I've ever owned has had anything but 68mm.
@se1derful The real reason is that a relatively large chainring (39T min.) combined with a narrow (42.7mm) chainline will probably hit the chainstay even if your MTB frame has the required 68mm BB shell.

Cheers! Hunting for an up to crank/chainring combo for a new purchase and was curious.

They came with the frame when I bought it second-hand so can't help - sorry.
Think it's similar to this though: http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/27308/Ritchey_Pro_Cross_Carbon_Forks_200FK299677?gclid=CLzhgKqJnMgCFSsCwwodblcDwA

Waaaaay ahead of you. Just need 3 more months and he'll be able to be towed around by me, mostly I'll be brakeless doing laps of the Blackwall tunnel but you might see elsewhere with him around town too.

Humm, i was looking for crabons fork for the pomp, and that ritchey above looks the business. How does the 1cm longer a-c affect the handling?

Think you could get some whisky no 7's for that price? apparently the beeknees etc, either from triton or westbrook....
-
• #5321
well i did just saw the older wcs model for very cheeep in 'bay, thats why i was wondering...Other option is to get 390mm long fork from orlo or rychtarski.
e: also, whisky fork looks to be tapered.

Question about the small pomp: it doesn't have a rear brake cable hanger for cantis - have people just not needed a hanger or are people using a seatclamp/hanger combo solution?
-
• #5324
I was using a seat clamp hanger. You'll need one if you're using cantilever brakes.
