Rode my second Broken Cross Audax, Venetian Nights 200k, on Saturday. Fantastic route... first half is flat and fast, it gets lumpy for a while then drops down to Matlock (excellent chippy by the river in Matlock Bath). Full of greasy chips it kicks up hard but rewards you with 30km of flat, traffic-free grit and gravel riding along the High Peak Trail. A gentle rise over Axe Edge and you're ready for a fantastic end to the ride as you descend from the Cat and Fiddle into Macclesfield. Got luck and rolled down as the sun was setting and the supermoon rose behind - absolutely stunning!
