• What is the motivation for new rims?

    Better braking?
    Lighter?
    More aeros?

I'm on a set of ACE rims, my mate has 2 sets. The 60mm deep 28mm wide ones are pretty amazing. Handle brilliantly in a cross wind, and give this amazing smooth ride. Not the lightest, cheapest, or best braking option out there. But they are very reliable and a joy to ride.

I have a set of alu training wheels with 27mm/25mm tubs back/front.

I still prefer the ride of my 88mm/60mm ACE rims with much smaller tubs fitted. Probably not more comfortable per se. But smoother.

    Worth a look.

  • Better braking is definitely the top agenda here and trying to stick with carbon (purely for aesthetics tbh)

But in saying that I have been looking at Swisside Hadron in going back to having alu braking surface and actually use this bike more often.

I'll probably wait out and see what the 2.2 enve rims are like before seeing which direction I go.
