CB1: see the future, be part of it

The people at Lewisham responsible for permitting the current 'Gateway' arrangements should be forced to cycle through it. Assuming they survive the experience, nothing more would be necessary.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more local paper outrage but, meh, Lewisham.

Taking a driving test next week, absolutely dreading the Lewisham fustercluck. Just gotta slide through it veery carefully.

I think it must just be that it is so obviously temporary and waiting for better things, although that doesn't make it any more pleasant to use in the mean time...

Manor Road, off Sheen Road was closed this morning, possibly other mornings, traffic eastbound was nose to tail along Sheen Road, upto and including upper richmond road. Not sure if it's a Rugby World Cup thing, and hoping it's not for long, because it makes the commute so much slower, and riskier as drivers get fucked off with sitting in non moving traffic and hook blind u turns...

Poss to do with Hammersmith Bridge shut (southbound tho) -

This morning I commuted from my bedroom to the study via the bathroom detour. Then after lunch I commuted to the kid's playroom downstairs so that I can use the Mac they have appropriated because it's screen is better than the one I have in the office for a video conference (and also so that I can open the french windows into the garden and stand outside with a fag occasionally to alleviate the boredom of listening to German technicians drone on about self fluxing coatings).
Don't hate me :-)
I shall be leaving shortly to commute to my son's playgroup with a trailer pulled behind the CX to pick him up, and come back via Gloucester Quays with possibly a small drinkie to alleviate the strain of it all.

wasn't it closed a little while ago? Or was that Putney? Anyway I've ridden over Hammersmith bridge and it needs a shit tonne of work done on it...

Anyone know what's going on at Bank? Police have blocked it off some kinda of demo maybe?
Taxi demo says the BBC

Does that mean there will be fewer taxis on the road tonight? Result.

Maybe it's some kind of mass-cycle-training event, funded by Addison Lee to promote positive relations to cycling

Oh well, looks like I'll have to get an Uber then.

Stayed over in Brixton last night and I have never been so confused/terrified/frustrated on a bike as I was going in this morning. What the actual fuck is going on at Oval.
Genuinely amazed to watch just how close people will get to certain death in order to be at the front at the lights. Made my normal commute from N6 seem very straightforward - will be more grateful in future.

Got screamed at to get off an empty country road by a fat fuck in a people carrier. I have no idea why he was so upset on such a lovely morning.

It starts with 'c' and rhymes with blusterfuck.

Yep. Semi-related, watched a lady this morning jumping reds and undertaking buses all the way from Stockwell to the City. Dangerous stuff - she was on the left of a bus when it started moving at least twice. Also, somebody needed to tell her that mounting the pavement to jump a red doesn't make it 'not count'. If you're going to jump the red just do it...

Not in the New Forest are you?

LOL not far off, Fareham, the other side of Southampton. I could see the new forest the time too..

So my first post in this thread is (hopefully) going to be my most dramatic...
Doing my usual commute to work (NW10 to SW7) and about halfway through I have a car pull out of a side road right across . Cue swerve, clipped front wheel, an excellent front flip and consequent commando roll. The guy was decent enough to stop and I have his details along with photos and a taco'd front wheel. I think I got away with some bruising and a walk to work with my bike.
The final question is, out of Evans and Cycle Surgery (the only two options nearby) who should I trust to check over the frame/forks?

Either. Both are likely to say that they can't guarantee its safety after a crash... In a similar position to you I once paid the bike shop £10 for a damage report and then sent that the to chap's insurance company.
It's supposed to replace the roundabout with some kind of junction, but that all seems a very long way off when you're trapped in the current inferno of barriers, lorries and Heras fencing
