How little £! Don't want to rock any boats but if you don't have a firm grasp of the value of what you have for sale then I say do a little more research before throwing arbitrary valuations around. If you're not that bothered fair enough. Colnagos tend to polarise opinions in terms of taste but this is very nicely kitted out and imho should be done the justice of a fair sale.

your bike as many on here will know im sure is a " colnago dream hp" denoting the use of the chainstays with the diamond gap...a trait brought forward from the c50 ( and late c40)
its a rare frame...very rare..
the kit on it is a mixed bag..
deltas are not period specific and dont even work great with those levers..
dont want to derail the deal if its done but if you stripped the bike to frame , fork and components and went to e bay you'd make a pretty penny... if you dont want the hassle...sell complete....for a bit more...
you asked.. i told. sorry to bidders. -

If you just want to get as much for it as possible don't sell it on here for £500, little bit unpleasant seeing the vultures circling....
-

To the above that is bollocks. I offered 500£ unknown bike cash no messing. If you think it's worth more then by all means make your offer to Mrlovesalot.

Thank you everyone for the information and your concern. Banana has been honest and i have accepted his offer. The hassle of taking the bike apart and selling individual pieces for a extra £100 or possibly more. Would like a quick sale anyway for holiday spending money and to buy myself a cheapy road bike. Even selling the bike for more on e-bay, people always try and haggle and mess you about. Banana is not wasting my time :)

edit. Glad op is happy.

£501 ?

@smithchild 650?

Handlebars are cray
-
• #36
put it on ebay, you'll get >650 i reckon
-
• #37
to much hassle, will let Banana do that and get some profit for his troubles :)
-
• #38
Fair play to Banana753, it was offered at that price so straight in there, bargain.
Could have gone on here for £700-£800 or maybe more though...? -
• #39
Yeah it could have gone a for a great deal more I recon, but op was after a quick sale and is happy. To be fair, bikes are not selling super quickly at the moment unless they are bargains. It riles slightly as I wouldn't have sold it so cheaply, but I'm not so what business is it of mine.
-

I haven't got an offer of anywhere near that, I can only go on what offers I have, best offer I got was £550 and I am not going to cancel the sale to Banana for £50 espically since banana is not messing about and I know he wants it 100%, if someone had or does by the end of the day offer 650+ I may of think about it.
I would also be guessing the 700-800 valuation is for a mint condition bike, mine does have a fair bit of wear, which you can see in the pictures.

• #41
^^Pure speculation really. Are you offering £7-800 quid for it? Nah.
All this armchair valuation is well and good (and what keeps LFGSS a generally place to trade), but fair play to both @Banana753 for throwing his hat into the ring (remember he's got to trudge out to see it, components etc all a bit of an unknown quantity) and to @Mrlovesalot for knowing a fair deal when he sees it, rather than having to deal with fleabay or tyre-kickers. -

No, it's too big for me. If is was my size and I was still looking for road bike, then yes, I'd pay £700 for that, honestly. I'd also have dibsed straight away at the £500 too.
The op started the thread asking for estimates, ideas of value, not offers. Asking for offers and bids usually gets ripped into on here, and it wasn't clear exactly when it became an auction either. It may be that there are others that would have paid £700-£800, or more, as op would have found out if he'd priced it higher to start with. It's not hard to drop the price over a couple of days until it finds it's selling price.

I started getting people asking how much and went with it. I wasn't looking to sell it, but soon as people started offering silly money ( it seems alot to me but I know nothing about bikes) and went with it. I am more than happy with £500 :)

well thats all that matters

@Mrlovesalot I have sold many things to many people and personally feel it's not just about the money. It's nice to have something others admire and want to own (especially a Colnago) and the process of advertising, posting, conversing with like minded individuals and greater expanding your social circle within a select hobby is often for me more enjoyable than holding the folding! What it buys afterwards however further adds to the enjoyment as you move into somebody else's circle especially if it's a new bike! You have a lovely bike and now I hope @Banana753 can enjoy it too but now you can move on to pastures new having enjoyed the banter that is prolific on LFGSS. Well done to both of you and I'd be happy to deal with you both in the future ;-)

if everyone is happy that's a smashing deal all round, sorry for doubting xx

To add. When I PM'd mr love a lot I explained the value of the bike may be more if split or put on the e bay and that he may get better offers on Lfgss and If better offers are made then(while this is not an auction site) I would respect that. I was offering a hassle free transaction with some risk to me I.e I am buying an unseen bike, from a stranger. The bike itself is lovely but a bit of miss match and a bit tierd. My plan is to give it a bit of Tlc. I have good matching wheels and a new sram force 11 group. I'm playing on the idea of putting a modern group on it.Whatever I am very grateful to Mr love a lot and will cherish the bike. It may be sold on at some point but at no profit to me. I love bikes and tinkering with bikes and especially Colnagos.Good karma all round.

@Banana753 no problem Banana, bet sure to put a picture up when you are finished. I would like to see what you do with it :).
@JusCos I have had fun talking to people, and I certainly know a lot more about bikes now, before coming here I barely knew what a group set was :D. Why don't Halfords tell you any of this when you buy a bike.
-
• #49
Halfords don't want you to know, because then you might not buy a bike from Halfords... ;)
-

@Philbythesea This is probably very true.
haven't got PM. :D
