  • This is the one I'm talking about (frame/forks, not the other parts), for clarification. Think they can be had fairly cheap now.

Also presume it's UCI legal, for BC champs. Which I really missed racing.

  • As @umop3pisdn says, so long as you can adopt a good position given it's geo, you are unlikely to find anything much better at a reasonable price.

The mods he was suggesting include drilling the top tube just behind the steerer to create a new port for the gear cables (http://blog.aeroweenie.com/2013/10/aero-tuneup.html). It'll void the warranty (which is no longer relevant if the bike is 2nd hand) and it will get most of the cables completely out of the wind. I doubt either the mod or the Tri rig brakes would fall foul of the UCI although I don't know.

If the cable mod does scupper your UCI ambitions then a cable tie round the offending cables just behind the stem keeps the cables tucked in close to the frame, but it's not as neat.

TriRig brakes are fine for UCI bikes, they've been used by ProTour riders. Drilling the frame probably violates the UCI prohibition on modifying components.

And, in my experience, if you aren't careful about cutting the end of the cable tie, you'll end up cutting the insides of your knees on it when you're out of the saddle. I have the scars to prove it...
