  • hello folks

it seems that i'll be selling my cannondale soon as

    a) the bike is waaaay above my level,
    b) travelling with the missus seems like a better way of keeping money away from myself, rather than having it invested in a bike that spends most of its time in the flat..

bought the frame on here from @caad5 - built it and loved it ever since. i put ~600kms in it (some local testing, and a trip to italy). would like to see if someone in the cdale group would want to buy it before hitting the classifieds/bay.

bike will be split as i'd like to keep the weels (no big thing, just fulcrum 5s), the stem and seatpost/saddle combo.

item 1: 56cm six13 in saeco team colours. premium+ full carbon forks, fsa headset.
item 2: hollowgram sl chainset, compact 50/34 rings.

rest of the bits (campag groupset) is for sale too, but not cannondale specific.. so i'll start my sales post with those.

here's a pic of the bike in glorenza to get your attention:

  • Those Six13 frames are as rad as fuck. Glad it's not a 54!

  • See now come in sizing issues. I ride a 56 usually, if I had a c10 I could use a lay back post and. 100/110mm stem and a few spacers, or a 58 with an inline post, 100mm stem and a slammed stem...something tells me the 56 with spacers would be more comfortable.

  • Thanks for the size advice a few pages back. Got this a week or so ago but have only been able to get out on it this week, loving it.

Do Ultegra LH shifters have a switch like XT LH shifters do to change from 3 chainrings to 2 or is it just a case of tuning with the limiter screw?

The OTP seatpost collar seems to struggle to hold the post straight. The bolt and gap on the collar is at the front of the seatpost with the gap in the seat tube at the back, I can't flip the collar round as there is a lug inside. Has anyone else experienced this? @ChrisMGS I see yours is the same.

  • You should buy that Six13 ^^^. Way more interesting than a C10 or contemporary C8.

  • Do Ultegra LH shifters have a switch like XT LH shifters do to change from 3 chainrings to 2 or is it just a case of tuning with the limiter screw?

I think they come as double or triple versions and can't be interchanged. If it feels like a triple shifter it's just the trim stops.

  • How much is the Six13?

  • The sizing is putting me off, need to go into Evans and try some out before I pull the trigger.

  • I haven't actually sat on the new bike yet, but had a CAAD10 with the collar opening at the front, and no problems with post slipping, and I'm heavy. It's not higher than the Min insert line is it? Have you torqued it to 5nm? That's the carbon post, right? Try a little carbon fibre grip gel (I had some on my CAAD10 with carbon post). Clean the seatpost and inside of the seat tube with de-greaser first and make sure both are dry before applying it:

  • I have ridden a USofA Caad8 in almost identical spec (Force and nice bits) as the Caad10. Both were lively. The 10 felt stiffer (perhaps the front end?).

I've also ridden the current Caad8 but unfortunately with Sora and basic wheels so difficult to compare.

It's all about the fit. And the provenance. And the paint ;-)

  • Any opinions on Spidering Vs Praxis? With Ultegra 6800. Spidering is a bit lighter but also more expensive. Is shifting / durability the same?

  • I've got a 53/39 spidering with Ultegra 6800. Shifting at the front is flawless. Can't speak for durability yet though, only 1000miles in

  • Probably good enough to not really notice the difference. If you want a spider based power doobry in the future then, well...

  • shimano shifts the best with shimano but since you come from sram you will find front shifting excellent in any scenario ;)

  • Tell me about it. Will be glad to be rid of the dreaded clunk down to the small ring.

Is this the correct blade for cutting a carbon steerer?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0001K9QLS

  • Just use a normal blade and park tool guide.

  • Isn't there a risk of splintering the carbon with standard blades? It'll be the one above or a 32tpi one, which both cost the same. Just wanted to know if the one above is meant for carbon too. Don't want to pay for the Park tool either. Might try masking tape or a plastic tube over it.

  • I've clamped an old stem on the steerer as a guide before. Put a spacer on top of you don't wanna scratch the stem.

  • you can use a Junior hacksaw, the smaller blade has a much higher TPI than a normal full size one and they're much easier to find.

I turned a tube to fit the steerer of my SuperSix and used a junior hacksaw, no one died.

  • Highest TPI you can get. Lots of strokes, little pressure.

  • And the paint ;-)

Half of the problem with the current crop of CAAD8s is that they all look shit

  • I did mine with a couple of jubilee clips and masking tape, highest TPI blade I could get in B&Q. Take your time and absolutely make sure you've got everything measured before you cut! And don't breathe in that stuff or you'll die.

  • I've just listed my CAAD10 56cm for sale if anyone's looking for one?

  • Ha, alright. Bike wouldn't be much use if that happened. Could take it to a mechanic but should have a go myself. Will try cutting a little higher up just to practice first.
