Had one PM already. Here's a pic of it in a "normal" height room. There is a degree of adjustment that I haven't tested. I put some inner tube strips between it and the floor/ceiling and it hasn't budged.

The old socks on the metal hooks have been replaced by strips of foam.

I bought a vertical hoist a few months ago and haven't used it. Anyone want it for a fiver?

So I'm currently getting the bit together to build a frame to hang my bikes from. The plan is for them to hang by the rear week with the front wheel removed.
I'm looking for some hooks but every with I've seen look a bit flimsy, thing like these.
I'm sure the hook itself would be up to the job but there doesn't look like there is much thread to hold it into the wood frame, am I just over thinking this ?
My haveiest bike 10 kgs

As long as the full thread is in the wooden frame and it's been drilled to correct size I really wouldn't worry at all. I have hung all my bikes from these at some point the heaviest of which is well over 10kg.

Cheers, Great stuff, that's set my mind at ease, I'll give it a go and report back.

I completed my bike rack yesterday, there's room for 6 but currently just holding 5. Given the room I've not got, its better to have the front wheel off.

Anyone rocking a ground anchor?
Thinking Pragmasis 13mm chain on a Torc anchor, it's £££ but then it's for 2-3 bikes.

I've now got a shed and bought some Clugs to hang bikes vertically on the wall.
All the pictures I've seen of Clug hangers have the bikes hanging by the front wheel. Is there any reason why hanging by the rear wheel wouldn't work, other than it possibly being a bit more awkward to take down?
I think the way to maximise space might be to hang them up down up but I'm struggling with the logic of it.

Surely Clugs don't take the weight, they just ensure bike is balanced, with the weight going through the rear wheel which is on the ground. Front down, the bike will not balance due to fork pivoting. Might just about work but doubt would be sufficiently stable.

Yeah my tests have now shown that to be the case. I'll just have to use the space between the wheels wisely.

You could maybe add low shelf units in alternate spaces so you can put the alternate clugs up higher, if that makes sense, so the bars will be at different heights. And you could use the stacked up bits as extra storage.

That's a good idea but the low roof height at the side of the shed probably wouldn't have allowed much difference in height.
Anyhow, it's done now. Any shelving will have to be either very shallow or very narrow. Still pleased with it though.

I've been tasked with sorting out the bike parking situation in work.
At the moment we have a simple rack (like the one below) which isn't cutting the mustard. There's not enough spots, you can only lock wheels with a D lock and it isn't covered.
There's probably around 20 bikes park here max. It's also in a gated car park so security isn't the highest priority.
Priorities are:
Space
Cover (I could build and awning over whatever we decide)
Easy lockup for more than just wheelsAny suggestions for something bespoke or off the shelf?

Have you read through this. https://tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/Workplace-Cycle-Parking-Guide.pdf
It comes in handy when trying to pitch for higher cost solutions.

as a minimum: 10 sheffield stands, whatever the cheapest form of open sided cover that you can do
Most definitely! I can come and install it when I collect the Brompton if you want?
