  • ...... until I decide what I want to do with it.
I got it with one pedal, 3TTT bars and stem but no wheels and no seat post.
This first pic is the afternoon I got it with a 27.2mm seat post I had in the garage and a set of new wheels I had hanging there too fitted with a ten speed cassette.

  • Second pic is the next day with two pedals, a pair of 105 brake levers and new brake cables. I was going to buy some triple 10 speed Shimano brake/shifters but I'm not convinced as yet. I have just won a set of 3x10 bar end shifters on ebay so I'll see how they work out. I think I'll need a different mid cage derailleur as the "spare" I have fitted is for 8 speed.
I would have put both these pictures in one post but have no idea how to post multiple pictures.

  • That's a real nice frame, should turn out well :)

  • Whilst fitting the Dura Ace 7800 bar end shifters I actually looked at the bike properly. The forks have had a major left side swipe.I considered getting new forks but thought I'd have a go at bending them back. It took a couple of hours of fiddling and measuring but it's back on track. More bits and bobs en route.

  • I have swapped the ten speed cassette for an eight speed I already had as I had two new 8 speed chains and had already fitted an 8 speed rear derailleur. Don't want to spend too much as I want to see what I can produce for peanuts using leftovers. Our loft conversion starts tomorrow so I'll be as poor as a poor thing for two months. I was looking at the expense of another derailleur and a 10 speed chain so it makes sense. It's all cabled up today and awaits some new bar tape tomorrow if I get the time.

  • I have completed my cheap-as-chips build for a total of £108. The only bits I had to buy were the shifters and the bar tape. Everything else was in the bowels of my garage. I picked the wheels up last year brand new and unused with tyres for £37 and was waiting for something to put them on. So if you take them off @£70! all in.
I'll use it as it is for a while and see if it's a keeper. The trouble is that makes seven or eight with the tandem and at least twelve more need something doing to them before I get rid. Still it's a relatively cheap hobby and it keeps me out of the way of the bloody kids.
