Sorry, I did mean slow obstacles, not a fast technical descent by the way. I'm sure I remember seeing a video once of a guy using fixed so he could track stand between obstacles, hopping between rocks and so on. I definitely didn't dream it (also, wouldn't dream of being able to either).
Should have phrased better.
Looks like fixed is a no-no so far, but maybe ss.
So now I'm stuck in the vicinity of my family home, my dad wants to do some mountain biking when it gets too shit out for the road stuff.
He's got some awesome something-or-other already. But his old MTB was given to my uncle, and not sure if I can get it back...
So if I can't (or even if I did)...
I'm wondering about these fixed or ss options on mtb. I appreciate my limitations with fixed/ss on the road/track, but on mtb I'm lost, except that fixed must be great for technical stuff, which I doubt he's planning (more churning out the miles on bridleways...)
Could a fixed balloon bike work I wonder? What ratios are you lot using?
