Just drill the stay in you existing frame, easy and cheap, if there is one.

What sort of hole would I need? Never done any frame modification before.

SSCX riders: track ends vs sliding dropouts vs EBB?
mechanical simplicity ruled my decision in the end: track ends it is. I figured a wheel change is pretty much going to ruin a race anyway, so an extra 30 seconds isn't going to make alot of difference most of the time.

Recently I moved close to the woods and I am enjoying the local trails ever since. I have updated to 35c Smart Sam tyres yet but still feel an itch for a more mountainbike-ish feel. Maybe going for a new crank with a smaller chainring and wider tyres (Knard 41`s) will make it feel better but still I wonder about your experiences with riding your SSCX bikes in mtb-ish terrain?

Went mountainbiking with friends once on my SS Cross check with 42mm tires. Would not recommend.

Why so?
Story time? -

Well, they had gears, suspension and 55mm+ tires. And disc brakes.
Also it was my first time really offroad.I could hold up with them just fine (read going as fast as I could and sometimes pushing uphill) until we came to a strip of singletrack with lots of roots. I got shaken up pretty badly, had to go slow, push lots of times.
At the end, there was a downhill section with pretty brutal gravel. Going down there with 40+ km/h I hit a rock with the rear wheel, kicking it sideways. I somehow stayed on the bike and did not die, but got a pinch flat and a wheel out of true.
I did the same route on a proper mountainbike lately (1x10 rigid steel 29er. But at least fat tires), and it went way smoother.

When I ride with MTBs it's ok uphill, so long as they don't go too slow and get in your way (trackstand!).
Fast rutted stuff is horrible.
Downhill... Is just an exercise in avoiding punctures and swearing at the canti's. I don't follow them into the bomb holes.
It's hard but fun.

Yeah I've rode my CX around cannock chase by me...great fun! Hard compared to my Mtb but a lot of fun! The decents and drops are super Fun when you have to hang over the back with a saddle up your bottom!'

You wont need the 425mm chainstay when having track ends - do 410mm for versatility.
Also makes wheel changing a lot easier if you have some mm's to shoot the wheel in to make chain slack enough.

Proper good. I don't even mind the belt.

If the thru-axles are anything like the 2016 RXC I'd just say no.
Anyway, stumbled onto this just now.

Anyone have any experience with or know someone who's owned an 8Bar Tflsberg?

How do you like those cranks?
Repurposing my steel frame as a long distance winter off road biek and building up something else for cross.
Edit: these look rather inviting!

I love them. Mine are the old 3d. 24mm axel. I am running them with Shimano Tiagra bb. I think it is perfect for cx as they are light, stiff and it is cheap to swap bbs. Only thing is that mine er 130bcd so you are limited to 38T. That means the overall drivetrain weighs a bit more than fx 34/16T. I run 42/19T right now (42/21T when I start races again).

Just buy a 110 spider for them.

Apologies if this has been covered recently, but I'm looking for a SSCX frame purely for racing.
Lightweight, canti and available in the UK. What are my options?
Edit : I'd prefer 130mm spacing, so the Cinelli Mash is out.

Why are the stripes on this trend of colour scheme always out of whack? Look shit.
