I just did a threshold test.
89 w is my ftp.
According to WattSyS/Turbotrainer/Turbotraining.co.ukĀI don't believe that for a second. You're welcome to pop over here, we just won't tell Nick.

Lol. Bullshit. Your turbo is broken or something.

He'll never know.

Perfect crime.

Actually, thinking about it my turbo does power - it's the Tacx Vortex Smart, so Damien can just plonk his bike on it.

^^Surely just biek with powermeter on turbo and match the two?
(or not rly srs?) -

I use a bike with a powermeter on mine, so don't need to use the turbo derived power, however the calibration is a simple spin down which you can trigger from the iPhone app.

Having a trainer that displays power is a good way to cross reference different power meters. I was tempted to buy the watt box for my Lemond so I can do such. I used my rollers in the end.
Useful to establish a base line of variance.

Or just riding at 40kph.

Finally going to get round to building my Track Powertap up. Is it possible to a 20 min FTP test on rollers? Don't have a turbo.
-
• #5918
Wouldnt they be the most boring 20 mins of your life?
-
• #5919
my life is very boring so i doubt it
-
• #5920
If they have some resistance and you've a big enough gear.
Just do a 20 min test. And use that as a measure of fitness. Then do another 20min test when you want to see if you've imporved basic aerobic fitness.

cheers skinny! no resistance and only 92 gear inches but i guess i'll give it a go.
Foolishly signed up for Red Hook Milan so trying to turn slow touring legs in to passable crit ones. -

dont lean
-
• #5923
I doubt you'll be able to then. Without resistance.
Basically you need a gear/resistance that means you can cycle at that resulting power needed for only 20 minutes.
Maybe just go to richmond park or HH and do it there.

I don't know how much power you intend to put out, but whatever it is that gets me a 23 minute 10 mile TT will drive my rollers at about 35mph, and that's with a ton of aero drag from the 48 spoke wheels.

You're faster than me at TTs (apart from the christmas one you rode your pometamine), guessing rollers will be still be too high a cadence. Time to beg/steal/borrow a turbo.
