• TT forum is the biggest pile of shit talkers I've ever seen. It's worse than the comments section on the daily mail.

  • Spider, wiring, sensors, USB to serial and PCV + charger only, errrm, £300?

With cranks a bit more? Let me know if I'm off.

  • Ah, didn't see the bit about Cannondale.

  • Fits any BB30 / PF30 BB :)

How much should I ask for it, spider and gubbins only? Works perfectly, good nick.

  • I've barely moved on from square taper, let alone reached XX30. £300 sounds about right, I think the square taper version (with cranks) normally crop up for about £400 on the TT forum.

  • If this were around November time then I'd almost certainly be interested.

Bear in mind that he's selling because they don't fit a T3. If you're thinking of putting them in a Cervelo, you need to take measurements. Given how much interference there was in the T3, I'd be a bit surprised if the extra 10mm OLN in an old-school P2/3 was enough to make them clear safely.

  • Yeah that's a point. I know Xav had issues with Raltecs in his P2.

  • Ah, ok. In that case I'll hold out until I have a better idea of how the build will take shape. Cheers.

  • i-Ride are now selling the Pioneer powermeter (I noticed, a few days after ordering one from the US of A).

That said, the upgrade kit in the US is £650, here in the UK it's a far more reasonable £1,099.

Of course, that's explained away by the 20% VAT which would make the UK cost £780. Oh, wait.

  • cheap here: https://www.powermeter24.com/uk/pioneer/pioneer-cyclo-power-meter-upgrade-kit-ultegra-6800

Also what are the thoughts on this? https://www.powermeter24.com/uk/pioneer/pioneer-cyclo-power-meter-left-crank-arm-ultegra-6800

I know P2M can be had for similar money but single side would be easier to switch between bikes.

  • If you've already taken the crank arm off, not really much more hassle to switch the DS as well.

  • True, I am not in the market I was just wondering is there a worthy competitor to Stages that is accurate and reliable.

The two sided upgrade kit is a steal IMO.

  • It still works by just doubling your power though, so has the same limitations as stages.

  • If I'd known about that on Powermeter.24 I'd have gone that route. It's mega cheap.

  • God-damn.

  • Is the upgrade kit on powermeter24 singleside only or L/R? The website seems a bit short on details, and about where it has to go for fitting.

  • If it's single sided I feel better about things.

  • upgrade kit = both sides

  • upgrade kit = both sides

I though the upgrade kit added the second crank when you already had the single-sided thing. On the shop page it says "Kurbelarme und Kettenblätter sind nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten !", which google (and even a basic understanding of European languages) translates to "Crank arms and chainrings are not included !"

  • My threshold HR would appear to be a lot lower than I thought it was.

  • I presume you're being sarcastic?

Because whatever that strava test is, it's not telling anything, becasue you're riding way below what your threshold it.

I don't know why it says Lactate Threshold either. That's a total misappropriation of the official term.

  • That's the output of a BSX Insight structured test, using this: https://www.bsxinsight.com/cycling

I created a workout in Trainer Road and then used that in erg mode to control my turbo, 3 mins at 100 watts, 3 mins at 120 etc etc.

  • Oh so you've that monitor. That makes more sense.

I'm still not sure what that ram test does tell you. And nothing related to threshold HR.

I like the british cycling MAP test.

Any published studies of those compared with a real blood test at the same time?

  • As far as I understand it this is all about lactate threshold, which defines the zones - a lot of posts from new users have said that they think it rather underestimates threshold power, and I guess that that would have a knock-on effect on threshold HR.

I invested in the Kickstarter for this last year, never got round to using it until today.

I'm going to use it's figure for my FTP, see if I can get that figure up a little over the next four weeks before testing again (which will be just after I get back from ten days at altitude in Colorado).
