How wide are these mudguards? I need to get my Pomp ready for winter, not sure 50mm will fit...

In theory would it be possible to run 650 wheels with larger tyres on a pomp without too much negative effect for a winter hack about? Or is this crazy talk?

As discussed previously, Pomps have maximum width clearance for the tyres in the right place for 700C, they actually have less clearance at the smaller radius of 650B tyres.

Also hard/impossible to find brakes unless you put new braze on mounts.

What's the widest size tyres people are running on their pomp (v4) with mudguards?

I like the idea of RibMo's or Pasela's, thinking 32c is the widest I can sensibly go for but I'd like 35c if it's possible.

I ran 35c Pasela's on my V3 pomp with guards but there was very little clearance between guard and tyre.

Those dangly bits look dangerous!

Pretty much got everything together for build now having picked up f&f and interim wheels from @andyp (cheers).

may need to drill forks for rack tho, most pomps dont come with the front drilled, only the rear of the steerer for mudguards etc

My 3rd pompino. Took parts from my cinelli, and other than new fork i think this will do.

Pomp is very nearly ready to be built... parts I have:

• Pompino V4 Raw (small..)
  
• FSA Orbit headset
  
• Tektro CR720 cantis
  
• Thomson seatpost
  
• chain & saddle from the current bike
  
• 2x cockpits to decide between (compact drops with cane creek SCR5 drop levers/easton monkeylite risers with crosstop levers) - I assume both of these will work with the cantilever brakes? Or am I going to have issues with the riser set up?
  
• Black HplusSon TB14s on Dura Ace 7710 hubs - 32c tyres will be fine on these rims right?
  
  

So still to get is just

• a crankset - any suggestions? (for a smallish budget ha..)
  
• tyres - thinking Panaracer Pasela gumwalls, 32c, where's the best place to get these from atm?
  
  
  

And still need to decide on gearing... think I am going to have to go single speed for a while in order to give my knees a bit of a break. Have a 17t freewheel cog on the rear atm.
