If you were after an SP dynamo the hub is probably cheapest there anyway.
Just put all the parts for the wheel in your basket with whichever spokes (any length) and then order. In the order add a note saying you would like the wheel built and they will amend your invoice. I think the charge was €25 per wheel.
I had a SP dynamo/ novatech 11 speed road wheelset built with mavic xm319 rims. I'm using them on my commuter. I haven't done many miles but when i first road them there wasn't any pingy noises so I'm pretty confident they will stay round.
EDIT: Don't forget to add nipples.

Spa do bundles, if you price up the retail price to buy all the bits, plus wheel build you won't find cheaper

Edit: depending on what you want

Gah. My Luxos U has, after 500k or less, developed a faint but persistent rattle. Not faint enough to ignore however.
Writing to the retailer
now, think I'd like a replacement. -

Centre-lock disc dynamo hubs - what's available beyond Shimano or SON, anything?
In an ideal world, it'd be a close match to a White Industries CLD rear hub.

My son 15mm has been faultless. Worth the money.
-
• #234
Bolt-thru?
-
• #235
Oh mine is a 15mm quick release 6bolt
But same hub internals. The son is just brilliant. No resistance when not being used.
If you've got the cash just get son. I wouldn't think twice about getting another.

Does anyone know where I can get an SP PL-8 dynamo in silver (32hole centre-lock)?
They are not being sold in the UK for some reason...
Cheers,
Matt

cheers but no joy so far...
It seems they may not be any in Europe - it is only available in black... might just have to get the oven cleaner out and strip the anodising...

Looking at Dynohubs for this winter, have spotted this, http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/700c-front-wheel-shimano-alfine-wh-s501-v-24h-rim-with-shimano-dynohub-6v-05a-3w-in-black-prod37210/
anyone have any idea of quality ect? look an awful lot cheaper than the SON options -
• #246
I have the Alfine dynohub on my cargo bike,Well made, works great, just a little heavier than son/sp.

• #247
I think i'd be getting a new rotor/ adapater than stripping anodising.

Update on my fancy Luxos:
It wasn't charging because I was running the light constantly. I know, RTFM etc. When I stopped running the lights it charged stuff well. Garmin 810 would charge up from around half to 100% in half an hour, and then the rest of the day I had it hooked up to my battery pack.It has survived some rainy nights but out of 2600 miles on the road in the US this summer it might have had a total of 1 day of being used in the rain, so can't yet vouch for long term water resistance.
I lost the light-USB cable at some point, but managed to cobble together with a modular cable set from radioshack. The power jack end of that cables measurements:
Outer diameter 3.4mm
Inner diameter 1.4mmOverall, really happy with it!
