  • I try to get one at 8am and not luck at all.
I got audax membership as a birthday gift in July.
Hopefully I can get a place at 4 or midnight

  • Think I'd like to have a go at LEL but want to test myself with an SR during 2016. Perhaps two.

  • Website crashed as soon as it hit 4
    I just going to volunteer.

  • Lots of people on facebook seem to be getting very annoyed at LEL website crashing while mentioning they're sitting there hitting refresh. Which would explain why the website's crashing.

Currently thinking I would like to do it, though I'm pretty sure at numerous point on GMC I swore to myself I'd never do an audax longer than 200k again.

  • You will be fine!
You done it which is the most important part

  • I plan on volunteering (the day before at registration) and riding. If I finish with enough time to spare I'll help at the end too.

  • Site is back up and working again.

    Get in there quickly.

  • Am I right in thinking LEL follows the same route each time round (ignoring minor variations...)?

  • 2009 and 2013 had some significant differences.

I believe the 2017 route will be pretty much the same as 2013.

  • I think I need to shift the ratio of enjoyment/non-enjoyment slightly more towards enjoyment for longer rides. 2 years is plenty of time to achieve this I reckon. There is something slightly ridiculous about spending large portions of rides desperately wanting to be at home, then when I'm at home I'm desperate to be out riding. The human brain is weird. Or at least mine is.

I wonder how many places will get taken up by audax uk members in January? Presume there'll still be other places going spare and then numerous people dropping out - obviously can't look at website to check, but they're going to allow people to re-sell entries through them if I remember correctly.

  • Crashed again.
    Oh well.

  • wonder how many places will get taken up by audax uk members in January?

Only about 600 complete an SR series in a PBP year (it's fewer in non-PBP years). Only about 500 AUK members ride PBP.

An upper bound (guess, by me) would probably be 750 of the guaranteed places being taken up in January 2017. That leaves 750 other places up for grabs.

  • Working fine for me. 62 still in stock.

EDIT: Going quickly. 1 minute later: 59 in stock.
EDIT: 5 minutes later, 50 in stock.

  • Trust me - if you can ride the GMT, you can ride LEL if you want to. If your head is up to it, GMT proves that your body probably is.

That's not to say something like LEL or PBP is straightforwards, but the time limits are generous and if you use them well and ensure you never get behind on your sleep, then you have a good chance of success.

  • No luck for me
I doing on my phone as I am in work

  • And don't panic about LEL places if you don't get one in this first batch. Come January 2017, there will be plenty of places as @Greenbank says.

My guess would be that 25%-30% of the 300 registering today won't be on the start line. Very easy to commit nearly two years in advance, especially if you are still feeling good and strong from summer riding.

I suspect that unless things go truly crazy, everyone that really wants to ride will be able to get a place.

  • Still 37 left.

(If you try to add another entry into your cart it warns you that you can't and tells you how many there are left in stock.)

  • The money for probably 10% of these deposits being sold will never materialise anyway. (You don't have to pay at checkout, you have to follow it up with a bank transfer afterwards.)

    31 left.
    22 left

  • No need for me - AUK member and volunteer last time.

  • It's a good tactic. Volunteer at the start and ride it.

    7 left...

  • I been trying to get on the page since 4

  • If I ride it, I will do it the other way around this time. If I ride a little quicker than last time and finish the night before rather than at 6 or 7 am, then a full night's sleep and ready to help when they seem to really need help (particularly really late into the final night when the tail enders are coming in). Not 100% on whether I will ride it yet.

  • I defo going to volunteer.
Somewhere up north so I have to cycle there and back
