  • Wrong thread....

  • I've just come back from a quick spin around Ghent. It's raining and hailing atm, and four out of the four riders I've met so far, have been wearing the same jersey as me: A black Gabba. Apparently the default choice 'round these parts and I've been very impressed by mine.

  • If anyone likes the gabba but can't handle the price tag, a capo lombardia is a satisfactory substitute http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/reviews/jerseys-tops/capo-lombardia-dwr-long-sleeved-jacket

  • yeah capo lombardia is v.good. I have one and use it all through winter with a heavy under-armour base layer.

  • If its a short sleeve then what about the belkin or giant ws ones on prendas.

  • Speaking of affordable substitutes...

Is Nanoflex worth the extra quids compared to the Sportful Fiandre/NoRain stuff? Thinking along the lines of thermal bibs, legwarmers. I understand they're effectively the same manufacturer so they're bound to be largely similar.

Sportful's slightly quieter branding and slightly smaller price tag is appealing...

  • If anyone's gonna know their foul weather kit, it would be a Belgian

  • Norain is the same as nanoflex so pick whichever ;)

  • Although I don't have any NoRain sutff, and I do have a Gabba, I have a few bits of Sportful kit and think it's great.

It's becoming a bit of a go-to for me. Reasonable price, nice non-lairy styling and good fit / performance.

So @tyeness, yes, probably worth a go on the sportful shit weather stuff!

  • Casp cycling are doing something similar soon I believe.

  • @jim1985 @danb

Cheers fellas! Sportful it is :)

  • how is sportful sizing?

  • im medium in torm / relaxed fit raphas

  • Italian. I.e. made for teeny tiny espresso fiends

I'm small in most stuff, but medium on jerseys for Sportful

  • Aren't sportful and castelli the same company.
Anyway I have the sportful winter bibs and they are the shit! So warm even in the windy wet East Midlands shitest weather.

  • How much better is the Gabba 2 over the original? Worth an extra £30?

  • I think good option is Etxeondo WS Team Edition. I bought this jersey last winter and its great. Arm warmers in set made from same fabric like jersey. Gore WS fabric is great, works like it should.

  • I can't really tell the difference between them tbh

  • I have the sportful no rain arm warmers to pair with the gabba SS, bought as they were the only ones small enough to stay up on my pipecleaner arms. They seem to do the trick and I feel less of a cycling billboard due to the previously mentioned discreet branding.

  • Their blurb sounds great when auto-translated on Bike24: " The active search for efficiency in weight and performance ability ends with rodent."

  • Anyone ever used the Pactimo Storm Hybrid jacket?

  • buy a sportful thread>>>

  • An interested but hard-up party writes:

How much rain can a gabba realistically keep out; light shower? steady rain? downpour?

  • It's not about keeping the rain out, it's about keeping you warm.

  • It does have some water repellence, though?

I'm generally alright on the warmth front, might just buy a cheaper rain jacket.
