Custom Kalavinka road build.

In the process of building up a new road bike, thought I would share photos as it progresses. My other road bike is a right old steed but pink, so I am keeping the pink vibe going with this one. I was close to going carbon a few months ago but decided that for a similar price I could go custom steel with Kalavinka, and obviously have something pretty special. Firstly some from the design process and workshop, hope you like the photos.

We decided on a 57cm top tube and 58 seat tube. I am 180cm tall with an inseam of 88cm. Royal pink seemed appropriate so stuck with that paint choice and requested white/black decals. Frame was sent for painting and the results looked really promising.

Had to be Chris King and Enve to finish it off. After approximately a month the pink lady was on its way to Scotland.

Tube set ?

Have stuck with Enve for the finishing kit. Enve seatpost, 110 stem and 40cm compact drops. This is everything up to present date. Hopefully have it finished over the next couple of months.

Are you really 180cm tall? I'd expect ~188 with that top tube and seat tube.

Yup, 5ft 11. My current road bike is pretty much the same (1cm shorter seat tube). Track bike is a 59 with a 130 stem (could go up to 140 easily). Only feel comfortable when I am stretched out a bit.

That is bloody beautiful mate, great choice of colour and parts! What was the ordering process like? All run smooth etc?

Got the ball rolling at the start of August, made payment pretty quickly so they could get started. Still quicker than I expected so I guess there was no waiting list. I think that a basic frame alone will cost slightly over 1k.

Thanks dude, so pleased with it. Yeah really smooth, kept me updated with photos and a chap called Masaki responds quickly to any requests. Was expecting to get stung bad with customs but only charged 53 quid!

That's HAWT. Wonder how the Matt paint will hold up...? Reminds me of the "soft paint" Colnagos from the 90's which flaked just looked at it. Is it a baked powder?
