Did it crack in two separate places? That's a bit terrifying! Read your earlier post about the wide rim wheels being super awesome. I had the pleasure of riding some 45mm deep, 25mm wide rim carbon clinchers last week and they were super comfy with Scwalbe ones. Saying that I just got some 23mm tubulars and on a smooth stretch of tarmac they are like butter.
On a side note the new CF SLX in Grey with the aero cockpit is pure porn!

I know right? really tempted with that just for the purely 'shit and giggles upgrade' but as I said I will wait for the disc gets refined.
For the wheels, I am looking around for either some nice rims to replace the crabon, maybe even tubs (I never ridden on tubs before, but from what I've head they're amazing) heart wants enve, zipp or hed, but wallets disagree for the moment ;)
In regards to the cracks, I guess I will have to clarify for the general public (I won't take the blame but I'll take responsibility):
Seatstay crack: occurred as I used this bike as my everyday commuter and one time I locked it up in Shoreditch, someone tried to steal it and instead of breaking the lock they broke the seatstay instead #FUCKERS
The top tube crack: Was when I locked the bike outside work when refurbishment was happening to the building it looks like a tool or material that was dropped onto the top tube, this didn't crack the top tube, but caused a ribble crack to the material. But I didn't want to crack at all, I asked Ed to repair it asap. Plus with Ed's work there is now life warranty to if anything goes wrong he will mend it for free again! =)

Split prices?

Prefer not to split yet (mainly because I don't know how and I just want to get rid of it in once piece) #NoPunIntended

A friend at my club ride has Enve 3.4(?) clinchers laced to Chris kings. That's about £2500 worth of wheel, I mean 10/10 in the bling department but it sounds like you're being chased by an angry strimmer/hive of bees if he's ever on your wheel. Though nothing beats the sound of a Zipp at high speed, must be the dimples.
As for the cracks, that is so unfortunate, should be renamed the "Unfortunate Series of Events Magnet"

You want the front half or the back?
-
• #258
Yeah currently looking re-lacing my chris hubs to either enve (either the 2.2 with its apparently it has better braking surfaces) or zipp firestrikes or hed jet black.
Unlucky? sums up my life. =/

Cheeky sod!

first dibs on Di2 if your bike (sale) falls apart

• #261
Buy my Hed Stingers if you want some wide tubs.
I do you deal. -
• #262
So what's with the talk of buying new wheels? You getting rid of the current ones?
-
• #263
Wait till the new Enve rims come out.
Got a pretty interesting braking surface claiming a 30% improvement (make of that if you will).

• #264
Not brave enough for tubs yet, but thanks for the offer (will PM you if I have a change of heart)

• #265
Not really getting, more replacing the rim than the whole wheelset.

Pretty much this tbh. But I heard that if you use any other pads than enve it would void the warranty of the rims.
or the new-ish zipp firestrike apparently had better performance braking compared to the firecrest. Has any of your customer used them before Ed? Oh trouble I see is that my hubs probably can't be laced to the front due to its 18 hole compared to the chris king 20h.
Or shall I just go for the Hed Jet Black:

This I guess makes the most sense in terms of having alloy braking surface.

Has any of your customer used them before Ed?
We're a Zipp dealership, so yes we praised them highly and a couple of our staff members ride them.
I'm looking to get the Zipp 303 in summer 2016, clincher with Vittoria tyres.

BTW, we do have a test wheel for customers to try out (Zipp 404 clincher).

What is the motivation for new rims?
Better braking?
Lighter?
More aeros?I'm on a set of ACE rims, my mate has 2 sets. The 60mm deep 28mm wide ones are pretty amazing. Handle brilliantly in a cross wind, and give this amazing smooth ride. Not the lightest, cheapest, or best braking option out there. But they are very reliable and a joy to ride.
I have a set of alu training wheels with 27mm/25mm tubs back/front.
I still prefer the ride of my 88mm/60mm ACE rims with much smaller tubs fitted. Probably not more comfortable per se. But smoother.
Worth a look.

Which tape is this? Looks lovely
-
• #271
Cheers Ed, might be tempted with this offer
-
• #272
Better braking is definitely the top agenda here and trying to stick with carbon (purely for aesthetics tbh)
But in saying that I have been looking at Swisside Hadron in going back to having alu braking surface and actually use this bike more often.
I'll probably wait out and see what the 2.2 enve rims are like before seeing which direction I go.

The one on the MK1 is canyon bar tape and on the MK2 is Fizik soft touch.
