I'm pretty fond of cycling light and rarely take my wallet with me. This means that I don't have any ID on me but I always have my phone.

I found an app (I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appventive.ice but others are available) that allows your vital information to be accessed from the lock screen.

It seems like a good idea should something bad happen and, if you just lose your phone and someone who isn't a scumbag finds it, they can contact the ICE numbers to get it back to you.

I've got one of those dog tags on its way from the states.

I've got a Road ID on the way too.

On an iphone you can enter your medial info (name, age, emergency phone numbers) in the health app. Then it can be accessed through the lock screen.

Much as I like cycling light, I don't take it to the extreme that I won't even take my driver's license with me.

Even if you didn't have one of those, I can't imagine the encumberence of a bit of paper with a small amount of writing on it would seriously impact on the quality of your ride. Particularly if you're already carrying a phone.

But of course, each to their own
Just remember, if you get mugged, the muggers will have your vital details and you won't have a way to call the police. They will probably be less interested in a scrap of paper.
