In Case Of Emergency.

  • I'm pretty fond of cycling light and rarely take my wallet with me. This means that I don't have any ID on me but I always have my phone.

I found an app (I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appventive.ice but others are available) that allows your vital information to be accessed from the lock screen.

It seems like a good idea should something bad happen and, if you just lose your phone and someone who isn't a scumbag finds it, they can contact the ICE numbers to get it back to you.

  • I've got one of those dog tags on its way from the states.

  • I've got a Road ID on the way too.

  • If I'm going somewhere remote, I wear this:

It's really well made and comfy.

  • It's amazing how much money people will spend on tat when advertisers play up fears of what is never likely to happen.

  • ^ I don't bother with anything like this. Maybe it's because, deep down, I'm selfish.

[EDIT] Also, bar the wedding ring, I don't wear/like jewellery.

  • On an iphone you can enter your medial info (name, age, emergency phone numbers) in the health app. Then it can be accessed through the lock screen.

  • i ride with the influence of Afrika Bambaata and the Soul Sonic Force in my heart
(shout out to the Zulu Nation btw)

  • Hey, what if your smartphone gets whacked in the crash...?

  • good point, modern life too dependant on smart shit imho, i just going to write my name and details in my underwear

  • Much as I like cycling light, I don't take it to the extreme that I won't even take my driver's license with me.

Even if you didn't have one of those, I can't imagine the encumberence of a bit of paper with a small amount of writing on it would seriously impact on the quality of your ride. Particularly if you're already carrying a phone.

But of course, each to their own
Just remember, if you get mugged, the muggers will have your vital details and you won't have a way to call the police. They will probably be less interested in a scrap of paper.

Identity theft really is an arseache.

  • I just write "AB+" on my helmet and leave it at that.

  • I have a piece of paper saying "please return to" with my partners name and phone no.

  • good tip IMO, I'm always wondering how loved ones would be notified if i had a bad crash.

  • go naked

  • I've carved DNR in my arm.

  • Do Not Remove?

I'd do the legs too, just in case.

  • I fear underwear is equally vulnerable in a crash.
