Ari steel 29"

Getting in to all this big tire thing with a steel hard tail Ari frame with Chris King and Fox Talas fork.

My plan is to build it with the new XT M8000 1x11, Thomson bits, Niner flat bars, starting with some cheap 25mm internal rims on Novatec hubs and with 2.4" Ardents.
I'm a "roadie", so i've no clue what i'm doing....

Meh, not too much. Just made a quick mock-up and with the same saddle height as my road bike (will probably run it a bit lower on the trails, but whatever) it will be around 4-5cm rise. And that's with a 70mm/0 degree stem, might get a 10 degree.

So, the XT 8000 crankset is sold out from Shimano (getting it through work)
Any recommendation for a good crankset is really appreciated. I've been looking at the Raceface Turbine, anything else like this worth looking at?

Try a Shimano SLX or XT. Always good and reliable and affordable as are SRAM X7 and X9. I'm not very keen on Raceface. I've a set on my new bike, which I'll change ASAP. They have a annoying locking system that always seems to work itself loose.... even with threadlock.

Good choice. Hard to go wrong with Hope hoops. Those rims work really well with 2.4 Ardents too :-)
