  • It would appear not. Discovered yesterday thay the day spa (so fucking west London) I work next to uses decent beans but doesn't sell them. At least I can get okay coffee now instead of drinking the Lavazza diesel in the office.

Guess I will just do mail order. Managed to get a bag of Volcano Full Steam from the little coffee place in Herne hill station this morning.

  • Volcano

Mrs Hell and myself occasioned upon Volcano as their HQ is at the end of our road. worst coffee i've ever tasted. redolent of an engine block stewed in mashed up wasps. and i don't mind nescaf.

  • The guys in West Norwood? I had some of their espresso beans once and was very unipressed too.

The little hut in Herne Hill station that uses their beans isn't great either. Shame.

  • I tried it a few years ago and it was awful - really, really burnt.

I've had it since and it's been better, but I've a feeling they're not very consistent in their roast.

  • Their beans are pretty hit and miss. If they're fresh then they're about 6/10.. But if they're not, that figure crashes to 3/10.

The bakery that just opened at the top of half moon lane (50m from me) sells Monmouth organic espresso, but I'm trying to avoid buying anything there because the people who own it and their staff have been incredibly rude to me a few times. Also - their bread is overpriced and not very good.

I sorted my shit out and ordered some red brick from square mile this week. Much better.
