  • WT Fuck was going on at E&C this morning? Managed to eventually filter to the front, only to find the roundabout completely clear and a rather portly gentleman standing in in front of the car in the right lane. Didn't stick around to find out why.

  • ^This

I ended up going round by the Hampton Court Palace. I overheard 2 hobby bobbies having a chat with a cyclist "roadworks mate".

  • Also:
    Mesh shorts and a thong?
    Srsly.

  • @Chalfie 'Hobby bobby' ! Nice. As Dr.D hacked onto a recruitment ad for the Community Support Officers: "You're just a grass with a badge".

  • Hampton Court Palace

    That's a hell of a diversion

  • Lorry and car collided on entrance to north roundabout (in front of the Tabernacle). Lorry & car were stopped in the middle of the road when I passed.

  • Much carnage and weaponised bell-ringing this morning. 5/10

  • Fucking glorious morning. Wanted to add a bit on to my commute, like going via Brighton and back. No one's here yet, could at least have whizzed around a few parks whilst grinning before getting here.
    wish-I'd-called-in-sick/10

  • What a beautiful morning the sun and mist coming off the playing fields around Dulwich just awesome. Such a nice ride in took it nice and slow and enjoyed very minute, smiled at the driver who gave a punishment pass, when I sailed past her as she waited in traffic, laughed at the hi-viz warrior trying and failing to undertake me, wished people good morning, that was until I got to Willow Rd. It's has temp traffic lights for the first time ever they had just turned green so continued going could see a car approaching but though it's green for me so I'm in the right. Now the car is getting closer and I'm not getting nearer to the end fucking dickwad decide that the red light didn't apply to him and he's drive straight at me just about misses me. Then almost get doored, and then hit by a van which pulled straight out infront of me. So in the space of 30 seconds my lovely ride almost got me killed.

Anyone on here ride a black track bike, Areospoke front wheel and wears a yellow helmet you were at the lights on Grange Rd this morning. If so nice bike, what make?

  • @CanonAxe Woah, really selfish of you - smiling at the punishment pass driver, it's people like you that make it worse for every other rider, with your unnervingly happy demeanor, you should be more responsible etc etc

  • That portly gent in the pink shirt standing there next to the red car was on the phone went I wen past because a lorry had crashed into the side of him. Totally blocking the Walworth entrance to the roundabout. Bad times.

  • Mate wasn't going to let her ruin my ride, it basically started when I took primary on a bit of road which had parked cars on one side and roadworks the other, no more then 150 metres she then jumped the lights as I was turning right and I'd gone through on amber. So I thought a smile would probably wind her up more. Wrong I know...

  • Exactly the same situation for me at 9.45. Crazy-crazy-crazy-empty. No portly gentleman for me though - just everyone from both South and East apparently wanting to get down the road towards the IWM, and me and a handful of others trying to get on the road to Borough.

And then A Nice Thing happened! A moto told me I had a good sense of balance, presumably from my pointless track stand at the lights on the Kennington Rd approach to Elephant. Whether true or not I don't know but put a smile on my face, as did the weather.

  • Pink shirt and red car?

Had he not considered the colour of his vehicle before dressing?

  • This explains a lot.

  • I'm going to hazard a guess that the lorry driver clocked the colour clash, became distressed and lost control of the vehicle.

  • ^ Seems plausible.

  • Just popped up the road for a coffee and saw a proper promuter confusion of a bike.
Alloy cube road bike with mudguards and mountain bike spds.
    And oval chainrings.

  • #ironyfail
I was merely juxtaposing your excellent attitude with the whole 'oh mate jumping red lights makes all cyclists look bad' rubbish.

  • Pink shirt and red car?

Had he not considered the colour of his vehicle before dressing?

This sort of clashing is V Now.

  • Very sobering as it as road I use. This bit of reporting is a little strange

"Police believe they know the identity of the deceased. Next of kin have not been informed."

  • Makes more sense when you imagine this exchange:

Journo: "Do you know the identity of the deceased?"
Police: "Yes, but we're not telling you yet - we haven't told the family."

  • Precisely. Although it could have been worded more clearly.

  • Saw that guy getting CPR... felt properly sick.
    Stay safe people
